No 2019 iMac?!

So there is clearly no 2018 iMac, now we can start speculating on a 2019 update.

I think the only reason why Apple didn’t update iMacs is because they’re planning a huge redesign with up to 8 core CPUs, full SSD, 16 GB starting RAM and possibly FaceID.

I really hope there will be a spring special event for iMacs and Mac Pro Preview. My 2014 iMac (with fusion drive) is getting kinda slow.

Yep, I'm surprised the iMac and MB didn't get an update today. I thought versions with upgraded CPUs would be on sale in the Apple Store after the Keynote, but that doesn't appear to be the case. Perhaps they will wait until the spring??
 
They also released a Press Release indicating a graphics upgrade for the 15" MacBook Pro next month (November). Wouldn't be surprised if they do a spec bumped iMac in November.

Like zooland I'm eagerly awaiting the iMac - the main thing I was watching for today! My 2012 iMac's hard drive bailed in July and the logic board bit it last month so I'm living off of a 2016 13" MacBook Pro until the new iMac surfaces.

The Mini they launched today is interesting, but I want dual 5K displays - it only supports dual 4K's.
 
It’s funny, my fusion drive died yesterday too. Have a Genius appointment for this Friday. i think I’ll just keep my 2012 on life support and try to make it last to 2019.

I was ready to buy a new iMac. My 2013 27" still performs well. But I'm ready for something faster. I saw the late November VEGA update for the MBP. I might just buy a well spec'd MBP, get the 27" LG display. And sell my iMac and old MBP. And call it a day.

If they were going to do a silent update of the iMac at the same time, wouldn't they have put out that press release and updated the webpage for it, too? I can't believe they're going to go to the two year mark for an iMac update.

You are not the only one.

In many threads over the past year, people were saying that new iMacs would be out by now. Usually on threads with people asking buying advice and many advising that they should wait for the WWDC, or iPhone event, or now.

I had posted many times saying that I thought Apple wouldn't announce a new iMac until 2019. 2018 isn't over yet, but it looks like I may of be correct on this.
 
Have had a terrible run of luck w/mbp's as of late and reliability's taken a hit. Decided to go back to an iMac and I'm glad I didn't wait but that's not to say I wasn't curious.

Confirms my decision - I'm loving the 21" i7, 512ssd/16gb iMac I just received the other day. It's really nice and it's nice to have the power of a desktop back. I love it.

Well that and the fact that they are preoccupied with other more important products. Even here and elsewhere on the polls for what are you most excited for at this event, it was overwhelmingly the ipad then macbook air, then mini and only a small percentage for imac. This is certainly not lost on Apple and therefore not one of their top priorities. Sooner or later they will get around to it. Just the way it is.

How annoying to have to wait, but November is the last possible chance. They would want the upgrade before Christmas and certainly aren’t going to upgrade for a while after Christmas. No update this year is shameful.

I guess it depends on what you do with it, but my Late 2012 iMac still feels like a beast.

This was one of the reasons why I thought we wouldn't see a new iMac until 2019.

The iMac is overdue for a major redesign. My guess is that the redesign will be modeled after the iMac Pro, especially for thermal management system which was an issue on the current design of the iMac.

iMacs tend to have very long service lives because they sit at your desk, have no batteries, and are more powerful machines to start with, on average.

For example, my 2015 is still going strong and I have absolutely no desire to upgrade it.

That could explain Apple not releasing updates to them as often.
 
The truth is, the next upgrade is to the tech included in the iMac Pro. As that is a relatively new, high price item, they need to milk it some more. So either pay up or shut up and wait.
 
I'm hoping my mid-2007 (aluminum!) iMac will make it until the next iMac arrives.
