Just FYI for everyone.

Reston Apple Store had about 100 on display as of an hour ago.

I had no luck today either. I called Tysons - none in stock. I called Reston on my way home and they said they had 'a few' left. When I arrived at the store 15(!) minutes later they were all gone. I called Fair Oaks but no dice there. All the local Best Buys are sold out too.

What's strange is that most of the Apple stores are out of iPads too - which means people are hovering around the store picking up the cases as soon as they put them out. Probably like the guy who PMed me to say he bought two cases to sell them on eBay but I could buy one off him. No thanks - people like him are a big part of the frigging problem.....

For the record I was the guy who offered to sell the to cases I purchased. For $0 profit and for what ever shipping costs are. So tell the whole story before you go crying how I'm part of the problem.

And what way are you NOT part of the problem? Why did you selfishly buy two iPad cases when you were not planning to use them? Well, to me the answer is pretty clear, as you admit here -- to sell on eBay.

I bought my WiFi iPad on Launch Day and bought an Apple iPad case to use with it. On this past Friday I bought my 3G iPad and, yes, there were some Apple iPad cases on offer then, too. Did I buy one or two or three? NO. I figured I have the one already and also have other ways to protect and carry the second iPad so left the iPad cases available for those in line behind me who were getting their first iPad and who needed and wanted that case. If I decide that I want a second Apple case for my own use, I can wait and buy it in a few weeks when the initial demand has tapered off.

It is greedy people who have caused the need for setting limits..... I applaud Apple for the way they have approached this situation.

East bay, CA

I'm near 2 apple stores in East bay, CA and there are no good cases to choose from except sleeves. I got a sleeve to hold me over for 14 days because I want a better one. It took me a long time to find a good case for my iPhone, so I expect the same with the ipad.
Good luck

They actually get shipment every day. Call around noon, they'll tell you they have it. Be there at the store soon, otherwise you'll miss them.

I bought my iPad 3G at the launch day (with no case), called the following day and it was in stock. South Bay here BTW.
