iPhone X doesn’t automatically back up to iCloud if it’s on the wireless charger?

Is that right? If so wtf Apple?!

I presume this is the same for the 8 and 8 plus…

Mine works. Is maybe your wifi signal really weak where you have it on the wireless charger? What does it say for the status of the last backup?

Are you sure? Seems it only works after an os update but after that it needs to be plugged in.

My wifi is strong.

How quick you are to blame Apple.

My 8+ backs up every night on the wireless charger pad.

Who else shall I blame. Google brings up loads of posts on the subject.

Are you sure it updates every night? I don’t think it does.

Yes I'm sure. Technology guy here. Backed up last night and the night before that, etc.
If it's not backing up, if there's some error, it should state so underneath "Backup Now" when you go into iCloud Backup in Settings.

Otherwise, it'll say "Last successful backup" and give a date.

You don’t think it does? LOL!

Mine say it backed up at 2:05am. I would post you a screen shot but guess you would not believe that either.

Of course. I’m backing it up manually then I’ll reboot and see what happens overnight.

But there are people having the same problem on google.

You got to realize that Google is vast. I just tried and the cases of the X not backing up are slim.

A better indicator would be this forum. Can you imagine the threads that would be created if no ones X was backing up while charging wirelessly?

Hope you find the problem. A simple reboot might do it.

Wifi is definitely not weak. Never had an issue with my 7 but then again I’m talking about it when it’s on the wireless charger not triggering automatic backup.

Just rebooted my phone and plugged it in. Did a manual back. Will keep an eye on it.

Op it's the WiFi signal.

My signal is not so good and when I moved the wireless charger out of my bedroom and into my living room and left it over night on the charger, wa la it backed up.

On my x it says backup to iCloud NEVER, however if I click on the iCloud button and go further it shows a backup time. Look like another bug to be squashed.

Definitely it’s 100% not wifi.

I have this too.

This might be part of your problem. Automatic backup doesn’t backup your phone every time you connect to the charger on WiFi... it only backs up once a day. If you have manually backed up I believe that will count for your daily backup and it won’t automatically backup at all until the next day.

For what it’s worth, my phone has been automatically backing up overnight despite my use of wireless charging.

My 8 plus, and now X both backed up when on the wireless charger, matter of fact, I never used wired charging for either of them, or now that I think of it, the lightning port at all........

Then your phone is defective because 99.9% of the time it's weak wifi or another wifi issue. Just because your wifi is showing strong doesn't mean something else wifi related isn't going on. Reboot the router and see if that helps.
