No matter what I do, I can't get he battery widget to appear. I tried removing all other widgets and repeatedly adding removing just he battery widget. Any ideas?

In my case the only time the battery widget shows up is when I've connected another Bluetooth device to my iPhone to see both the battery of your iPhone and from your bluetooth device. Otherwise it won't show it and you can simply use the battery indicator in the top bar as I have.

Do you have a watch or another bluetooth device connected to the phone?

Ah, My Apple Watch was turned off. That was the problem. Thanks all. Can you imagine, the Technical Support representative at Apple didn't have a clue!
