Hello and happy autumn. You may recall I posted in June to report issues with my Mac Pro 5,1 mid 2010 computer. At the time I had attempted an OS upgrade to High Sierra and I was left with a "brick" and black screen. I now have an update.
After much deliberation, I decided to order a new Logic Board/Backplane in August. I installed it and at start up I immediately got a chime and then my old desktop appeared on the screen. The computer is now running again, and I would say, faster than it was before. My crude guess is that the logic board was getting old and delicate due to years of activity which involves heat that can wear on the circuitry. The attempted OS update was strenuous and broke the camel's back.
Again my thanks for all input. - Mac Jack 7 😊
