I dont see a camera icon. yes its turned on and everything is set right. but there is no camera icon. i cant even paste a photo in the text box, it just says the photo name - e.g., IMG_12.JPG or something like that.

im in the uk and on o2 with a contract no unlocking/funny business.

I have a camera icon but I havent tried it out yet.

Did you try setting it up as a new phone?

I didn't bother using an old backup because I've been reading it causes problems.

ok, restoring. sucks that ill have to set up all my settings again.

that sucks, I have seen a few with this problem. I and others I know that upgraded have it fine. I don't suppose you tried turning MMS off, resetting the phone, and turning MMS back on?

Thats so strange that its not showing up at all.

Well you arent missing out on alot. MMS doesnt work right now anyways.

iPhone 3G + O2 UK here too and no MMS in Messages.
Tried with pay monthly (iPhone tarrif) and pay as you go (with MMS active) and there was no MMS (camera) icon in Messages.
I think it's something to do with O2 UK.

I read a post that said it worked fine with o2.

I use my Australian networked unlocked iPhone on 3UK and no picture MMS for me, but I it looks as though I can forward contacts.

My 3UK sim is a contract and I've got included MMS. Can see noway to configure MMS settings as you do on a traditional Nokia/SE phone which would be needed unless apple include them for every provider.

its strange that the button doesn't show up, it would be understandable if the button was there and it just gave us an error back. But why the no button to try to send an mms?

This may seem like a silly question. But do you have a 3G signal when you try to send the pics?

Some of us are trying to figure out if the iPhone 3G can send MMS even when it is on EDGE.

You do not need to have a 3G signal to send MMS on a Nokia/SE phone....
So why would this be the case with the iPhone?

Maybe because of the type of radio they used in the iPhone? I don't think Apple ever planned to add MMS support, and so to keep costs down they used an Edge radio that didn't support MMS. The 3G radio may have had MMS support regardless.

To be honest though, I have no idea what I'm talking about, just speculating.

You have to phone O2 and ask them to activate your MMS messaging. After an hour of trying to work out how to send them, my dad just simply phoned them up and that activated it for him. I do like the fact that they just use up 4 texts instead of charging you extra.

We don't know how to send them yet though, as it is yet to be activated. I'm guessing an option will just come up?
