I was waiting for the new Ipad Mini to come at the Apple event but unfortunately..it did not appeared. I really like the form factor and portability.
But I need an Ipad to take notes and read for my work and media use and drawing. Not to mention having a great front camera to be able to make good quality videoconferencing for webinar
I wonder what would be the best option now:
- Ipad Air 4 64 go is great for the price but is the storage enough for apps (i use icloud for my files)?
- Is it better to wait for the Ipad pro 2021 that I could keep for many many years? (+ it has a great camera)
- Or go for an Ipad pro 2020.. but prices did not really go down
What do you think? Thanks in advance for your advices

Well, for your needs, a 2020 11 inch iPad Pro might be the way to go. Cheaper than the 2021 iPad Pros, especially now that the 2020s are all getting price reductions, but also the 2020 will still be a powerful iPad that you can have for a number of years.

There is a match between ipad air 4 (64go) and Ipad Pro 2O2O (138go)... a price difference though (here in France where I live Ipad pro 2020 is only 100 euros less than the new one... that's not much a price difference for now)

The price differences may change the new ones actually come out. Mainly from third parties, who want to get rid of inventory. It's hard to say.

Yeah that's what I was thinking.. maybe i'll wait another week until pre-order is available. If price goes down, I guess Ipad pro 2020 might be a little better than the Air because 128 go seems to be a little better than 64 go

If you hold on a few more months, you’ll probably be able to get a Mini 6.

Yes for sure and maybe i'll wait for Ipad mini 7 :)
I need one quite soon for my work so i won't be able to wait until this september (and i'm not sure Ipad Mini will come with a new design too..which is a little bit outdated)

I was also waiting for an updated mini, and really need to replace my Mini version 2. I am pretty sure i will bail on the mini form factor and go to the 2021 iPad Pro.

I really love Ipad Mini but the design is not pleasant anymore. Reading on an ipad pro 11 is great. However I wonder if I read for a long time, the weight will makes a difference. I just tried it on a shop and thought that it is heavy to hold it in one hand compared to the mini

I’ve been using a mini 3 for a few months, and waiting to see if a new mini was announced in the spring. It wasn’t, so I bought a mini 5, which I’m using to write this message. I’m happy with it.

This is the size I wanted. The other iPads are too big/heavy for my needs

Depends on how long you want to keep your new iPad for. I use Air 4 64 GB and have about 40 GB of it free, as most of my stuff is in the cloud as well. Sure, 128 GB is twice more than 64 GB, but for my usage I would have over 100 GB of empty space and I am not restricting myself in any way. The tech is changing quite fast, so you would probably be changing your iPad again in 3-5 years from now. Consider how much space you need, otherwise iPad 8, Air 4 or Pro 11” (2020 or 2021) will serve you fine for a while. ?

I'd keep holding out. If no mini by the fall then grab the new iPad Air 5 that will show up this year.

This depends on how urgently that iPad is needed. If Apple announces new iPad Air and iPad Mini in October-November, it might be quite difficult to get hold of them for a while.

Finally, I got a great bargain on an Ipad Pro 2020. It was almost the same price than an Ipad Air (50 euros difference) for double storage. So I went for it and I guess I'll keep it for 2 or 3 years.
I just saw this thread pop up to the top and was about to make the case for why the Mini 5 would be a good option for you... only to see your latest post. o_O ?

I hope that the Air serves your purposes well.

Thanks @sracer! Too late, and actually it is an ipad pro that I ordered. I'll be waiting the next Ipad Mini, so I am still not sure I'll enjoy the form factor of the Ipad pro. I'll see how it goes :)

I’ve got iPad mini 2 ota downgraded to iOS 10.3.3, it lags when playing games like brawl stars, and I don’t want iPad mini 5 with A12 chip like my xs max. I’m looking forward to buy the new iPad mini 6 with a14 or m1 if it’s a pro, I don’t care about redesign or not because the iPad mini 5 been out for a while since iOS 12, refresh can come out anytime soon without an announcement.

If Mini 5 had stereo speakers and solid touch ID button I'd own one but right now I'd rather use my 7 Plus because of these two things. Fingers crossed these come to Mini 6.

If you don’t mind the iPad Air, that means size is not an issue, and that means you don’t need an iPad mini to begin with.

I’m not sure why people are confused between an iPad mini and iPad Air. They are different sizes. If you need a small tablet, you wouldn’t be thinking about the iPad Air.
