I thought that I'd be clever and get an iPad whilst on holiday in Florida. Pretty shocked to find that Orlando (both shops), Jacksonville and Tampa have no stock. I have my name down in the Orlando stores but have not heard anything yet - anyone ordered one recently and got the email? Did it take long? Been waiting three days so far.

Chris

you're in USA and therefore on VACATION.

lol, just kidding.

no iPads in Dadeland Mall store (Miami). Haven't tried the other ones or Best Buy mostly because I'm waiting for 3G anyway

Hey - Savannah (on vacation) with a slight aside to Jacksonville and a local call on the way. Busch Gardens in Tampa and a local call on the way passed. Staying in Orlando and a visit and registration in both Malls.

You do understand that Brits in Florida do Theme Parks, Malls and Outlets? Even with the terrible exchange rates, you guys have it soooo cheap here!

Chris

sold out in nj as well. Sucks I just decided I want one and now I can't get it.

Chris-

There are three (3) Apple Stores in the Orlando area:
Florida Mall (near Orlando International Airport)
Millenia Mall (approx 15 min from the Walt Disney World area via I-4)
Altamonte Mall (approx 30 min from the Walt Disney World area via I-4)

I bought my WiFi iPad at the Millenia store. I called the night before and was told there were none, but that they get shipments almost daily and they were expecting a shipment the next day. After work the next day, I stopped in and was able to get my iPad.

I live in Orlando. Our economy loves you Brits.

P.S. Wear sunscreen. Cooked lobsters in football jerseys dragging overloaded suitcases are good for the U.K. dermatologists.

Thanks, I signed up with the Florida Mall and Millenia already a few days ago. We will pass the Altamonte Mall (now that I know about it) probably tomorrow. If I get one, great. Otherwise I'll get one in in May at home.

Sunscreen is such a delight, but very needed in this sun. Perhaps more time in the Mall and Outlets? Seriously, I had no idea that Kissimmee would be showing the signs of recession as much as it does - far more closures and abandoned lots than last time we were here.

Yeah, us crazy Brits...

Your PS comment just sums us crazy Brits up so brilliantly, you made me laugh this morning, because I cannot sleep!!!

...hence i'm awake loitering on here.

PS: I am expecting my iPad 64GB which I won on eBay on 14th April to be delivered, finally, today!! :D

The wait has been killing me! (yeah i'm exaggerating - because i'm still alive).

I will post my opening up, first impression, experiences later today when I get it on this thread:

Check the Best Buy in Sarasota for stock. I haven't seen them out yet. If you're willing to travel to Tampa, Orlando, or Jacksonville, Sarasota is just 45 minutes to an hour from Tampa.

Yeah, and the Best Buy in Sarasota is pretty easy to get to if you take the Bee Ridge exit (which is Exit 207)... you'll go about 5 miles west and then turn south onto the Tamiami Trail, if I remember correctly.

So, there's no stock in the Brandon Mall Apple Store either?? :(

PS - if you want to work your way farther down the 75, you could try the Apple Store in Coconut Point, which is in the Fort Myers area. And by then, you will have had a good tour of the state of Florida! ;)

Looking at their site, none in Orlando/Jacksonville or Tampa and areas.

Thanks anyway.

Chris

Do you mean no stock or no stores? :D Just incase it's the latter, google maps shows quite a few BestBuys in the Orlando area.

There is an Apple store in Palm Beach (Wellington Mall) and several more as you get closer to the Miami area if you want to drive all the way down.

I'm in Tampa, and :apple: store at international mall gets them every day except Sunday according to 2 clerks I talked to. I had to exchange mine due to the video freezing problem but were oos when I was there. They called me the next day when the shipment came in.

It took about three days for my 16gb reservation to come up last week at the Florida Mall. I ended up not buying it anyway, but it seemed like we had a pretty good stock in the area last week. Even Best Buy was showing some availability on their website going into last weekend.

Oh well, maybe you can score a wifi this week as everyone is fighting over the 3g's.

As for Kissimmee, you're not kidding. You should try living here. Seems like every time we go out shopping, another store is closed. Doesn't seem to be getting any better either.

An hour-ish east of Orlando will bring you to my area. There's no Apple store here but the Best Buy has had plenty of stock every time I've gone. Also there's two apple dealers here, one of which I picked up my wife's iPad.

Maybe today I'll get the email and will sign up with the third Orlando Apple Store today on the way passed. Our miles here are mostly behind us now and on the way back to Orlando for the last 8 days - will get one here if one comes in. Size matters and I'll only go to 16 or 32 Gb.

Thanks for the thoughts!

Chris

Whoo! Got one waiting for me today. Seems I have to go to the pool to 'enjoy' myself first. Also managed to pick up an Apple cover for it in Orlando Mall this morning. Cost me a dress and $39.99.
