I think it's the other way aroundI will say it: The iP17 base is more interesting than the 17Air. The 17Air is more elegant design than the iP17 base
I disagree. I’ve created a poll - https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/whats-the-most-premium-looking-new-iphone.2467627/
It’s interesting as the 17 has the same battery performance as the air (the non-esim models anyway).
Polls here are irrelevant for the most part. It’s an echo chamber for techies. Ask the Apple Store reps about what models they’re bringing out from the stockroom. Mine told me less than 10:1.
No, it doesn’t. Apple claims the same 30 hours for physical SIM iPhone 17 compared to 27 hours for Air.
Most importantly, it’s hard to convince actual buyers otherwise - that a thin phone can last as long as a regular one - like trying to convince people a small car is as safe as a truck. It’s an uphill battle.
All the vanilla iPhone 17 reviews I have read or watched have been extremely positive. Forums are going to focus on something perceived as exciting or bad.I’m seeing relatively little discussion (here and elsewhere online) about the base model iPhone 17.
Seems like all of the hype and interest are around the Pros and the Air, even though the iPhone 17 has the most compelling overall package among base models in recent memory.
Base models are base models. The lowest spec's and lowest price. Perhaps the base model is of little interest to the majority of people looking at iPhone's?I’m seeing relatively little discussion (here and elsewhere online) about the base model iPhone 17.

So you're a great case study; what was it about the 17 base model that made you jump, especially given you came from the 16?They made it compelling enough that I jumped from a base 16 to a 17 and I don’t usually upgrade each year.
was hoping for "one more thing", a 17 mini....but, noI’m going the opposite way. I’m in the 13 mini. No matter what iPhone I get at this point it’ll be an adjustment.
Yeah, I think the ship has sailed. I’d be glad to be wrong about that though.was hoping for "one more thing", a 17 mini....but, no
base 17 is a new 11 model . Nothing to complain about. If you interested in a deep review by professional photographer take a look at this video :I’m seeing relatively little discussion (here and elsewhere online) about the base model iPhone 17.

Well, they just killed the base Plus model.. There is a little little hope. Maybe in 5 years.Yeah, I think the ship has sailed. I’d be glad to be wrong about that though.
i agree with you.I was really thinking to get the 17 base model, thinking that it’s gonna have far better battery life than the air.
And having that extra 0.5 camera would’ve been great.
But now I’m leaning towards the air, because it seems like the battery is almost the same. Maybe like a 5% or something like that difference.
So if I’m not really compromising battery life, I might as well go for the air. I’d get a bigger screen too. More comfortable form factor. The only real sacrifice feels like a 0.5 camera.
Speak for yourself.Said no one ever…
Luxurious? How? Because it‘s an entirely new design with obvious hardware drawbacks and no special software features? But also the most luxurious and the most premium looking.
