I wish they'd improve Windows integration and maybe begin to support some competitor tablets/mobiles as well. It seems as though MobileMe is becoming increasingly restricted to Apple only devices, which is no good for me.

Oh, and improve iDisk. But that goes without saying.

I signed up for the free trial in hopes that this would have been free or close to free. I did have to enter my credit card information when I signed up last week so we'll see. I will probably cancel at the end of the trial period since I don't really think it's worth the money.
There are some features that I think are pretty neat but for the most part, I'm satisifed with Gmail and 20gb of dropbox...for free.

Even using that link there doesn't seem to be a "Buy It" option anywhere. Everywhere you click brings you to the Free Trial...

Something's up!

No, you get a two weeks free trial before you pay for anything.

Mine expired March 1, 2011.

The email says that if i dont renew by March 16, 2011 i lose access and my account and email deleted. I wish they would announce something soon. Dont want to pony up $100 and have it go free.

What if I didn't want a trail and just wanted to buy it? Apparently you can't now. You used to be able to however.

Went into Apple Store in Trafford Centre today and they had loads of boxed copies of MM on the shelves, both single and family. But it's not possible to buy it online any more, and people who've renewed in the last few days have only been charged a pro-rata amount for a few days, or even nothing at all. Something is definitely happening!

I'm just wondering if at the end of yesterday's event, something like this happened:

Steve walks off stage to great applause.

"How'd I do, guys?"

"Fantastic Mr Jobs. How were the audience?"

"Hey, they seemed happy enough!"

"Did they like the new iPad?"

"Heck yes, that's going to sell well"

"And how did they like the news about iOS?"

"Well, I think there's some happy people out there"

"And what about the 'And One More Thing' about MobileMe?"

"Oh ******!.... Is this place booked up tomorrow?"

Well exactly. That is what I have been saying all along. Something is up.

I was in an Apple Store on Monday and they had Mobile Me boxes on the shelf. So it's a little confusing. I've also seen the reports of people renewing this week and getting some sort of pro rata charge. Very confusing. I just know that asking an Apple Employee what's up before there is an official announcement just makes the poor individual uncomfortable since they probably don't know and if they do they better not say a thing. It's the Apple way.

But surely something must be imminent in light of the fact that you can now longer 'buy' MobileMe online or in Apple retail stores. It would be interesting to find someone whose renewal has fallen due in the last week or so since MM 'disappeared' and find out if they have actually been charged for their renewal.

Has anyone actually phoned that Apple Store and asked about buying MobileMe to see what they say? (I don't have the time to at the moment)

[Edit]

From this thread https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1107046/ it looks like people are just getting renewed for either 10 days or until 8th March; I'm not sure which though. It would be useful to find another renewal to find out which

Can anyone else confirm the pro-rated renewal?

I bought a boxed MM from Amazon a couple months ago and applied the code to my account then so it would auto update when it was due yesterday (March 3). From looking at my account today it looks like it did update for a year and I don't see anything different than how I have done this is previous years.

I think the only people who've noticed a difference are those who've renewed directly online with Apple (by credit card, not using a code); they seem to only have had a few $ charged. That said, some people seem to have been charged the full amount, so who knows what's happening.

Really? My sub is up in s few weeks so I will see what payment i get charged.

Looking at the Lion preview it seems ipads are going to be able to access docs on imacs wirelessly (at long last) and quite a few cloud icons found.

Think ios5 is finally going to turn the ipad into a better business / productivity device and I would imagine Mobile Me changes will occur with this!

Roll on summer!!!

Maybe I'm missing it but where is the discussion about these alleged prorated charges? Is there a thread about it somewhere or is it just pure rumor?

I asked the question in the Apple Store today...

Me: ``So, what happened with Mobile Me"?

Apple Specialist: ``We don't sell it anymore. I *think* you can get it online.

Dumbass.

Apple keeps their employees in the dark just like their customers until it's posted on Apple.com.

Bottom line, nobody knows what's going on. Hopefully Apple will fill in the blanks soon. My MM is suppose to renew in April. Guess I'll see what happens then.

I was hoping for some update as well.

Darn it, I want to love MobileMe, but right now, I just can't. Too fickle, to 2008ish.

I've ordered a cheap copy off Amazon to keep mine going. I can't afford to lose all the functionality. Yes there are other options, but most are far more complicated to setup and don't work as well.

I hope the changes whatever they are add new features and improvements to those who've used/support the platform thus far.

I'd love to see this myself too. Not so much the Windows integration, but the mobile phone syncing.
Mail mostly works, but contacts and the calendar won't ever work except on a iPhone...

For example, we got some phones here at work we are testing at the moment. One is the Windows Phone 7.
MS released the connector, but that only syncs media. Nothing else.
I personally don't give anything about syncing media, I want my calendar and contacts synced.
Works OK-ish with my current Blackberry, would love to see it on a WP7 or Android.

I don't want to switch to Gmail, and syning everything to both MobileMe+Gmail ain't possible, as de use of MobileMe doesn't let you configure for Gmail as well...

If only...
