Once again they told me all customised Mac Pro for Europe are all but in China.

I agree with earlier posters. This is not true as my custom nMP came from Austin Texas like others - the DHL tracking information was very clear.

good news just received the mac pro, bad news they sent me the wrong plug (american), great..

Well, I can't comment on that personally since mine hasn't arrived yet...but according to countless other threads...the cords are just standard PSU fare....

----------

If you look at the nMP picture, rather than the cord picture, it looks pretty standard to me!

One thing that I'm not sure of, though...and I've wondered this for a while. I assume the PSU senses and switches to the increased European voltage? So it's the same PSU in the Eu machines?

Don't really know probably something it didn't like with that wall socket, moved it to another one and have had no problems since! :)

I am glad it is working, now.

Was the system very cold when you first tried it? Perhaps it just needed to warm up a bit.

In the winter it is good practice to unbox and let the system get close to room temperature before powering it up.

Might have been that as well the enclosure was pretty cold but since it is metal it almost always feel a bit cool. I know you should wait but I felt like I had waited enough :p Anyway it is an awesome machine!

Just a small update.

HAd a call from apple (Belgium) telling me that my "stock configuration" nMP that should have been delivered in februari is set back to april followed by the statement that it could even be later than april and that i should even take a later delivery date than april into account due to some problems they are having in getting them delivered from the US...whatever that means.

Since there are no apparent voltage switches, I assume it works the same way that the current generation of iMac's does...as you state, plug it in, the transformer detects the voltage and amps and adjusts automatically.

I finally got the "it's dispatched" notice today. Delivery on the 20th of March. So that will be exactly 3 months since I ordered.

I got an update too

My delivery date of 14-18th March has now changed to being delivered on the 14th March from LOUISVILLE, KY US

Hex, 512 SSD, 16GB, D700

Whoooohoooooo! Can't believe it, my nMP is on the way... last status: Louisville / Departure Scan early this morning... Delivery planned: Monday.

Has anybody claimed their "good will" gift, as mentioned by the reps once you received you machine?

*sigh* damn UPS changed delivery date to Tuesday, now I took a day of for Monday - can't get another day for Tuesday... *hate*

Damn that sucks :( Bit of a fiasco this whole order process. The UPS guys don't seem to care who signs for it though, my one just shoved the gadget in front of me and said sign there. No questions asked.

It does! I called this morning the hotline, wanted to drive to the UPS hub and get my parcel there. They told me "your parcel is on the way, the status at the webpage has an error, you'll get it today...", now we have 3:30pm and I am still waiting. Hope I can get it today, wether it is delivered or I drive to the hub...

It is a package not a court summons or serving legal papers. UPS is hired to deliver to an address, not a specific person. If random people can open the front door from the inside at an address the problematical security problem isn't on the UPS end of the exchange. It isn't like they are asking random person walking down the sidewalk to sign for it.

How silent is it?

The nMP arrived!

Waited now very close to three months for it!

..........................................

Congratulations for your patience!
By the way may I ask you if your machine is a silent one and how is it's configuration.
For many new owners of a nMP, unexpected noise seems to be a problem they have to face since this computer is built to be put over the table very near to the user.
Hope you received a truly silent computer and therefore it would be useful to know your configuration.

In the end it was more dispair then patience, I thought I will never get it.

Well, haven't had much time yesterday - after setting the machine up, installing the first programs I did two renderings.

One which just uses the CPU and let it run for about 30 minutes, the air at the top of the machine just got a little bit warm.
The other one was by using Luxrender in hybrid mode (CPU + GPU), let this run for about 15 or 20 minutes - the air became a bit more warm than it was when doing the first render.

That's all, didn't hear much of the fan. There is a very very low noise which you can hear if there is no other noise in the room, yes, then you can hear that there is something (the fan) running - in total the nMP produces less noise than my iMac (2011) where I can hear the HDD working.

Hope I get enough time to get a bit more "into the deep" today.

I've got a 6core/D500/16GB RAM/512GB SSD nMP.

Glad you guys are receiving your orders. Keep us informed, post truckload of pictures and screenshots of benchmarks and everything else!

You know, sharing is caring! :D
