Which of the two do you recommend? I just want it to disable the device from being turned off
If all you want is to prevent the phone from being turned off at the lock screen then just use that new tweak LockSafety.

Both iCaughtU Pro and iGotYa have more features than just this. If that's what you want then the only recommendation I can give you is to do your research to figure out which one works best for you.

iCaughtU Pro has a free version with less features simply called iCaughtU. Not sure about iGotYa because I never used it. I chose iCaughtU Pro because it seemed to have more options (at the time) than iGotYa.

No, nothing can restrict that.
Its a hardware built in feature by apple.

There was a Cydia tweak that forced a user to 'slide-to'turnoff' that needed a passcode. I don't recall the name of the tweak (used it on iOS6) but even when turning off with the home button/ sleep button, the passcode was required.

You're sure about that?
When you do a hard reboot by holding power and home all software hacks are bypassed.

Now you have me questioning myself. . .
I recall either a soft or hard reset required a passcode to allow the slider to work.
(I remember that one because there was always a super quick, brilliant flash before the slider appeared.)

I'll try and find that tweak...

Does that include the Activator action too? You can set Activator to ignore pressing those buttons together, but I've never tried that. Don't want to be caught in a situation where I need to hard reset but because I set this nothing happens.

Found it!
(Although not iOS7 compatible yet. . .)

Powerguard

And, if that doesn't work, perhaps Power Security coupled with Lockdown Pro would fit the bill.

I had that for a while. I think I uninstalled it because it was making the sliders to restart or shutdown dissapear on me. I'm going take a second look at it though.

I'm pretty sure Applejuiced is right. All of these security things provide extras against everyday users but anyone familiar with jailbroken iOS just has to do a hard reboot and/or safe mode and security defaults to the original lockscreen and passcode.

The hard reset (holding both buttons until it turns off) is a feature that is completely independent from iOS. Thus, iOS has no control over it and it cannot be stopped or restricted by anything short of removing or preventing physical access to either button.

Thanks then.
I was wrong.

Really- without the ability to bypass a hard reset tweaks are somewhat worthless against thieves, outside of the uniformed opportunist.

Well, most of the thieves stealing iPhones barely know anything about what they've taken, just like the average iPhone user. Seriously, how many average iPhone users outside of this forum are even aware of the concept of hard resetting their phone? Most of them have to read the manual to find out how to turn it on or off.

This makes secondary protection necessary. If someone steals my iPhone they're going to have to figure out my lock code. Should they figure that out they still do NOT have access to Cydia, App store or Settings because I have a tweak that locks them down with a passcode that's different than my lockcode. And it works in safe mode too.

Even then, should they get into Settings by figuring out all that I still have a lock code for the Restrictions section. In order to shut off Location Services they have to break a THIRD code which is again entirely different than the other two codes!

The average thief that gets my iPhone is going to have to work very hard to get past these codes. Hopefully by then they'll just give up!

how do you lock down your apps even in safe mode?

Uhhh…I don't. Not in Safe Mode anyway. I THOUGHT I did but I just checked and no, it doesn't work in Safe Mode. Sorry, should have checked that first before I ran my mouth off.

In any case though, I use LockdownLite. Which does work outside of safe mode.

Sorry to mislead anyone.
