We bought a new imac today and I was aware of the new systems that might be coming out soon. We needed a new computer, I couldn't deal with the old one any longer, and we aren't that into doing things that I think the new macs will come out with. Granted I don't understand half the things most of you say on the boards so who knows I might change my mind later when I comprehend it more.

All I can say is WOW! I love what we bought! It is so great compared to our old HP and I can't believe how quiet and quick it is. Even my husband who entrusted me with the research is surprised at how quick his nfl site loads.

Glad we finally made the switch.

The iMac today will do the same thing as the iMac of tomorrow for them. If you were knew more of technology and know exactly what you're looking for and are very specific, you would probably do a bit a research.

I know what you're trying to say, but I wouldn't say that absolutely. The iMac today surely won't play blu-rays if that feature happens to actually be included in the iMac tomorrow for example.

Guess what? iMacs are back to shipping within 24 hours and my local Apple store just got a huge shipment of iMacs in this morning. (and yes, they were the current models)

I am looking at the Apple Store website right now at 10:39 PM Pacific time and the shipping date for the 24" base model is still "1-3 days"

Oh they are coming. It's due for an update and more and more looking as if it's going to be this month. As for the specs though I'm kinda resigned to the fact that it will still be a core 2 duo. Hopefully I'm wrong though

You can never predict Apple.
I bought my MBP back in February - three months later they completely updated the hardware; support for 8gb of ram, etc.

So, even though I agree - you should do research before you buy something - you can't wait forever.
