Yeah, plugins? Did you know iPhoto allows plugins? how many did you see?
And you have the Extensions System Pref Pane. Check it out; that's where some of the stuff would be. See much? It's basically like the iOS setup. I have Pixelmator, and it has a "Repair Tool" action listed...but it doesn't work in Photos. Works in Mail though. You can't even do a simple "edit in..." and that should tell you something.
I also have tons of other image editing programs: Nik, MacPhun, Topaz, DxO, Acorn, Pixelmator, etc etc. NONE have any plugins. There are more in iOS, and they basically just open the image in their own app and save it back.
Time to move on if you want to use the tools that plugins provide.
