I would find the nearest Hospital and go on a baby punching spree.

That's in POOR taste.

Now if you want to talk about what the Saints D is going to do to Favre (the baby in question), put your comments in the NFL thread. And yes, Favre is probably at the hospital detoxing from pain meds again sharing a room with Rush Limbaugh and a few of Paris Hilton's gal pals.

Yes, a small footprint MBA or iNetbook or minMacbookPro would be a great product, but with maybe a limited audience at any price point.

Yeah, that's the problem. An 11.6 inch MBA with a C2D, or equivalent cpu, 256gb ssd and 4gb ram.....

/salivates

It'd cost a bomb, nobody'd buy it except myself, perhaps you, and 1,056 others.....but I'd go straight from the bank to the Apple store :D

I think it is a given by now, but you never know with Apple.

I know we should see an iLife and iWork update, this would be there normal update cycle. Can you imagine the outrage if the new creation is just iTunes.com or 64-bit iLife. :)

Apple's stock would skyrocket.

[/sarcasm]

But honestly, if Jobs just came on stage and said "You guys want a tablet? Too bad. The iPod touch is close enough, but we do have updated MacBook Pros!!!" or something to that effect I would probably cry. Then I'd go buy a Nexus One.

But since it will be announced, we will have our tablet Mac all we will need is a PowerBook G5 and Beatles on iTunes. ;]

Nah i think its gonna be the tablet, seldom have i seen such streamlined rumors with obvious boosts from apple itself.

I actually think that "Come see our latest creation" means iLife. I see Apple wanting iLife to be an Adobe CS for consumers. I think the invites saying "come see our latest creation" have almost a dual meaning: iLife at the surface, and some sort of deeper meaning for the tablet that we will realize after it has been demoed.

Yeah well if they are ramping up all this hype for iLife people will be pissed off.

As others have noted, they would have managed expectations differently if it was something like that.

Why would you have a big event to kick off a new version of iLife where all the press coverage is ONLY going to report on how you did not release a tablet. They would not do that.

HI Marksman,

Would you be able to share any info you might have in regards to the Tablet?

I never intended to say there wasn't going to be a Tablet, but I think one of the meanings of "CSOLC" is for iLife.

I figured it out. The new creation will be a thin 5" OLED tablet, about .4" thick. It'll have the iPhone/Touch UI and run all the current iPhone apps.

Then you can unfold it. The inside will fold open to show a 10" OLED screen running OSX. The smaller outer screen becomes the touchpad for the big screen. You touch it on the back so you don't have to get fingerprints on the big screen.

Just a theory. ;)

Expectations are way too high. In the press, as well as in the fan sites. If there wasn't a tablet, they would do some controlled leaks for some other possible products (xMac, MacBook Mini, iPhone Mini, new OSX features ... whatever then have in the labs but may never see the light of day) to muddy the waters a bit.

They must want people to expect a tablet. It's conceivable that Steve just wants to mess with the rumor boys (it wouldn't be a first), but I don't think they'd let it hit the mainstream press like this.

They'll be forced to show the iPod touch with a camera instead. If not, see Apple's stocks take a huge dive and the new articles here rated Negative: 99999999
