No vibrate/tap when using Siri?

Hey all,

I was just curious if this was a feature or something else. When I use Siri on my 6s Plus, I don't get an initial double tap/vibrate on initiating Siri. I only get it when Siri acknowledges a command and executes it.

I could have sworn it worked on my 6s Plus before? I upgraded to 9.1 beta and did a restore but after some issues with my restore causing serious battery drain I wiped the device again and dropped to 9.01

However I'm running 9.1 on my 6 and 5s and I get the double vibrate tap on Siri execution.

Anyone else experiencing this?
 
my 5s after upgrading to iOS 9 stopped the sound and did a nice vibrate. my 6s doesn't even vibrate at all. Also curious about this.
 
Naw it's when you hold down the home button to initiate Siri. They got rid of the little ding sound it makes but I could have sworn there was at least a double vibrate/tap that happens when you do this.

It's missing on my 6s Plus. Seems odd.

Ok so it's not just me. Someone mentioned that it's missing on all 6s's and that just seems odd. They should bring it back.
 
It is missing on all the 6s and 6s + devices. There are a couple posts about it. Some people say Apple knows about the issue. The issue is on both the public releases 9.01/2 and all the Public Betas as well, even Beta 3 released yesterday.
 
It is not an issue. Ask yourselves "what was the sound/vibration purpose?" :) and you'll get why it's not there and why only on the 6s... ;)
...and why it's a very good thing!
 
You can get it back for one try by changing siris language. It works once then stops again. Only affects the 6s models. My wife's 6 buzzes each time.

From what I've read it affects every single person on a 6s series. Haven't seen a single person say it works all the time for them.

Ahah, sometimes I like to be cryptic, but just sometimes! :)
Seriously: the vibration/sound thing was a way for siri to say "i'm ready to listen". If you talked before the end of the sound, words were lost. With the iPhone 6s, Siri is ALWAYS ready. Just press the home button and start talking. It will be listening even a fraction before the siri screen appears to be active. Try it! :)
This is thanks to the m9 chip, which always keeps siri ready for the "ehi Siri" stuff.
Since Siri is always active, a sound or a vibration are not needed anymore

That doesn't really explain why there's no vibration like there is on the 6 for example.

?? What ?? That's exactly what I've explained! The 6 doesn't have an M9. The vibration is needed to let you know WHEN you can start speaking.

what has it it to do with holding the home button to activate Siri, where you don't say hey Siri? we're not talking about hey Siri here

and actually, hey Siri is the one time it still makes the beep lol. so doesn't explain why there wouldn't be a vibrate

And M9 has nothing to do with knowing when you can speak.

Unfortunately it seems that you connected two fairly unconnected things. It seems to make sense to you, and that's fine, but it doesn't mean there's a connection between the two things that makes sense to others.

I think it perfectly explains why there is no vibration. Siri is always listening, just start talking. You don't even have to push the button if you say "Hey Siri..."
 
Holy shoot he's right. I can say what I want Siri to do and then press the button. It then does it. She's always listening... To everything I do... EVERYTHING.
 
The M9 does explain this. The sound or vibration was necessary in earlier devices because there was a small delay between when the screen changed to the Siri prompt, and when you could actually start speaking. Siri on the 6s does not have this delay. The exact instant the screen changes, you can start talking. This makes the sound/vibration redundant.

Exactly, it would just slow down the user's workflow

Does Siri make an audible sound when you say "Hey Siri"?
