So many threads about this topic and I still don't understand, what's so hard about swiping up on the lock screen.![]()
And then when they change this to what you want you’ll start saying “I can’t believe Apple is so daft to allow someone’s phone to unlock while sitting on a table by just looking at it because it’s such a security concern.”when your phone is sitting on the table it daftly means that Face ID is actually more hassle than with an old phone and your thumb. as you have to pick up the phone and turn it to your face and then with your other hand swipe up. whereas if you could just lift it to your face and see your home screen or last opened app, it'd be quicker.

You can't pick up your phone and swipe up with one hand?

Apple designs things a certain way for a reason.
Not sure if this is meant to be a frivolous post, but its designed to work that way so you can at least see your notifications.
Itd be quicker to never lock your phone too.when your phone is sitting on the table it daftly means that Face ID is actually more hassle than with an old phone and your thumb. as you have to pick up the phone and turn it to your face and then with your other hand swipe up. whereas if you could just lift it to your face and see your home screen or last opened app, it'd be quicker.

That way you never have to unlock it!
I hope this thread is a troll attempt
Haha omg are you even serious?and its not just about the home screen, when the phone goes to sleep when you were looking at something then its annoying to Face ID then swipe.
what is the point of Face ID replacing fingerprints (which could surely have been done without a home button) if you have to swipe anyway?
Haha omg are you even serious?
1) if you dont want you screen to turn off while reading - use a setting which has been available since 1.0. Its called Auto-Lock. Set it to never.
2) You think its so simple to implement touch id accuracy into a screen? Why has noone done it to that security level yet? Some companies are trying - and yes - it works but its not as efficient nor as developed yet.
You are no longer just complaining about the practicality of faceid swipe but complaining about not having touchid in a screen yet. How dare technology not keep up with your demands!
Sabotaging your own thread haha this is gold
The same type of things have been hashed and rehashed many times over already since over a year ago when Face ID made its first appearance, and it all comes down to the same things in the end: it would be nice if the option for this kind of thing was there so that those who would want could make use of it, but it's not something that is offered so far, and no one knows whether or not Apple might decide to do it at some point in the future.2 points and neither of them accurate or helpful to the discussion
I didn't say I wanted my phone not to go off, and I didn't complain about not having touch screen on the ID either.
I said when my phone screen goes off, its annoying that its two steps to get it back on again, and that face id which should be a step forward actually makes it slower because of the extra step. I only mention that it could be done without the home button because if I didn't youd have answered saying 'but there's no home button are you really saying you want a home button back!!' and it can be done, as you say other companies have done so already but not very well.
I didn't ask for either of those things, I just asked for the option to face id straight to the home screen or my last app. im not sure if im in the minority or majority for that but even if its a minority I think its a decent sized minority so it would be good if apple gave an option.
But even then you’re not looking at your notifications properly. To interact with one, you’re likely to pick up the phone anyway. Failing that get an angled phone holder.when your phone is sitting on the table it daftly means that Face ID is actually more hassle than with an old phone and your thumb. as you have to pick up the phone and turn it to your face and then with your other hand swipe up. whereas if you could just lift it to your face and see your home screen or last opened app, it'd be quicker.
I like that idea. Makes you wonder if anyone at Apple actually uses iPhones. It’s simple ergonomics. If I had my pick, I would have it show notifications unless there were none. If I had none it would open to the home screen. That way I see notices, read and clear notices, move on or swipe up to do more. Perhaps I don't want to read them now and swipe up to do more. If I don't need to see a blank screen don't show it to me, just take me home because it should be clear at that point I have nothing to do on that page if its empty. A switch in settings could be ok too I guess.

Seems like the meaning there is more along the lines that if you were to look at your phone just to see the notifications quickly it would instead unlock and essentially hide them so you would need to do something else to access them (rather than just being able to quickly look at your phone as usual). You can still see your notifications whenever you want while on the home screen, you just swipe down from the top.
Touch ID:
- Rest thumb on sensor button to unlock
- Press button to go to home screen
Looks like you're right. That could be disabled. I had forgotten that.To be completely fair, I believe on a TouchID phone, you can turn off that second step. I never did, but others did if I'm recalling correctly. The corresponding action can't be disabled on a FaceID device.
That said, I agree with what you have to say. But don't be surprised when others don't. While I can't grasp it myself, it seems to be a fairly big deal if some people are forced to see their lock screen. And they want the option to disable that second step on a FaceID device.
