Nomad today introduced its latest multi-device charger, debuting a new version of the Stand One Max with Qi2 support. Rather than continuing to use MagSafe, Nomad is transitioning to Qi2, the latest Qi charging standard that is able to charge iPhones at MagSafe speeds.

The Stand One Max can charge an iPhone at up to 15W, and we were able to test the charger out ahead of launch. An iPhone 15 Pro Max charged from 0 to 39 percent in an hour, which is essentially identical to MagSafe charging speeds.

The Stand One Max features an upright charging base for the iPhone with a small charging arm for the Apple Watch and a Qi-based platform for charging the AirPods. It's a compact design that takes up little room on a desk, and as with all Nomad products, it is well-made. Nomad had a prior version of the Stand One Max, but the new version moves the Apple Watch charger lower to allow for compatibility with the iPhone's StandBy mode.

The Stand One Max is crafted from solid metal and it has a shiny glass cover panel. It can be purchased in silver or carbide colors, and the close to 2 pound weight adds stability, as does the rubber bottom. An iPhone can be positioned on the magnetic base in portrait or landscape mode, so StandBy is supported. The angle of the charging base cannot be adjusted, but it is tilted back slightly for a comfortable viewing position on a desktop or nightstand.

In addition to charging a MagSafe-compatible iPhone at up to 15W, the Stand One Max has an Apple Watch fast charger so that it can charge the Series 7 or later at the fastest possible speed. The position of the Apple Watch charger allows for Night Stand mode to be used, which also wasn't possible with the prior iteration. The AirPods charger charges at 5W, and there is a small indentation to guide positioning.

The relocated position of the Apple Watch charger is convenient because it no longer prevents the iPhone from charging in landscape mode, and there is no loss of functionality. The AirPods charger is pushed back behind the Apple Watch charger, and the overall footprint is about the same. It is a better design than the prior Stand One Max, and it is less expensive with the transition to Qi2.

The new Stand One Max is priced at $150, which is $30 lower than the price of the prior MagSafe version. You will need to supply your own 30W power adapter, but a USB-C power cable is included. The Stand One Max can be purchased from the Nomad website as of today.

Nomad is also offering a flash sale on its Base One Max chargers this week, discounting them by 30 percent with the promo code BM130. The Base One Max has a flat charging base so it can charge non-MagSafe smartphones.

I like Anker products (and own a few), but I think the price after the advertised discount is more appropriate as the regular price, especially when you consider the need for a charger brick. The release time is also interesting because while this adopts the somewhat recently introduced Qi2 standard, there are rumors of higher wattage fast charging around the corner this fall.

I bought an off-brand on Amazon for $30, all in one, only a charging capable. Doesn’t charge fast but I use it on the night stand and it’s fine enough for my purposes.

Do these still not accommodate AWU? I got an older model on clearance from Best Buy but it can't charge my Watch Ultra because the pad isn't high enough to align with the coils in the watch.

Will an iPhone with a silicone case charge on one of these?

Not that I'm going to get one at this price and without a transformer. Maybe at half this price with transformer.

A hundred and fifty dollars and no power brick is included? Unlike every other competing device from Anker, et al that are cheaper?

Nomad seems laser-focused on the sucker market at this point. Which, I mean, more power to them as suckers deserve to be parted from their money, but holy cow.

I don’t get why mfg’s are releasing new charging stands now, when new iPhones will be out soon. If rumor is right and the new iPhone Pro‘s can charge at 20w speeds now, why would I want a stand that does not do that?

Don’t get the Qi2 stands either. So, mfg’s are just too cheap to get MagSafe certification? I would prefer a MagSafe certified stand.

… could the industry please just give us one more dock with a proper plug? Inductive charging is slower, probably bad for the long-term health of the battery (heat), and inconvenient if you use a magsafe wallet.

Price aside, it’s wild how few products there are that allow StandBy mode for iPhone and nightstand mode for Apple Watch.

No idea how that’s still an issue after all this time.

Printed another stand similar to this last week. Pennies in material. Even with adding the cost of an official magsafe and watch cables you come out ahead. As much as I enjoy Apple products, I really hate how the association with Apple turns into outrageously priced accessories.

At least it is reasonably priced and comes with a power adapter... wait.
How did we get here? We are talking about charging small devices.
$150 is reasonably priced? And ...

"You will need to supply your own 30W power adapter, but a USB-C power cable is included." How generous of Nomad!

I have a Nomad stand for my iPhone. It wasn't cheap but it is elegant, exquisitely made and oozes quality. Since it's something I intend to use in Nightstand mode for many years to come, I'm not complaining about the price. The customer support is also top notch. My stand actually got damaged due to an extreme furniture event, and they kindly sent me a replacement.

No, I'm not being paid by Nomad to write this. Just my opinion.

I'm surprised there is so much whining about the price. I don't think this is too bad at all. You can get cheaper devices but in my experience they feel cheap and they look cheap too. I paid half of this from a company who made them look great in the pictures but compared to Belkin and Anker docks i'd have previous it felt like cheap plastic and it wasn't certified.

I currently use the Anker cube which is really for travelling but works well and that cost this much.

I'd consider this were the 16 Pro not around the corner that might charge faster. It looks well made, it looks elegant with no tacky branding, I assume it'll be heavy and sturdy too. I think it's a pretty good price. I don't need a charge as I have 250w of USB-C cable to each side of the bed so I only need a cable.
