My palms get sweaty so i getting a nice whitish film wherever I rest that interferes with my writing. I tried to get into hand written notes, but typing is faster for me. So the pencil is just lying around here right now.

I spray painted mine bright yellow and green.

Chuckle - I was thinking more of the black version ;)

I have a couple :D

Be a great shape for the AP ...

Hi all, I have some gift cards to blow and I love my new iPad Pro. I already have the Folio Keyboard case and I was thinking about completing the triangle and getting the Apple Pencil 2.

The question I have is if I really need it. I am not an artist, I'm horrible at drawing, so I don't really think I'd use it for that. I think it would be convenient to have in situations where it's attached to the keyboard because it basically replaces my finger.

So I'm curious if any non artists can weigh in on if it's worth buying and what you have used it for.

Thanks!

I use it for notes and also sometimes just browsing. I think it’s a handy gadget. Gets me to try and draw a little too. Well okay doodle. But I like and I would recommend it. The person above clearly has nothing to add. Just upping their post count and hoping someone will click the link in sig.

Thanks! Yeah and I do have a 9’year old that likes to draw and she sometimes will use it too.

I am not an artist but use it daily. Helps for me with browsing for long periods to avoid cramp in my hand. Also like to use it for navigation in general and selection of text. Do occasional use it for pdf mark up, sign documents and insert freehand drawings. Having it now charging when not in use on my IPP 3rd gen makes it more compelling and for somewhere to put it when not using it at that time.

I’m in the same boat. I have the 10.5” IPP that I have been using daily for work for the past 1.5 years and I was thinking about getting an Apple Pencil, but I’m not sure exactly what I’d use it for.

I do the hiring and interviewing for my company, so I’m thinking it might be nice to be able to annotate and make notes on digital copies of resumes that I receive, but much more convenient would this actually be with the pencil?

I’m curious as to what people use it for with work on a daily basis, besides drawing?

I’m not an artist either. Far from it.

When the spring semester starts, I plan to use it to take notes, take roll, possibly annotate. I’m still thinking it through, but I can already see how invaluable it will be.

Another user here that cannot confidently draw anything. The pencil is great for photo editing. I was constantly frustrated with sliding dials in photo apps because my fingers can't seem to pull away from the screen without changing a slider setting away from exactly what I want. The pencil totally solved this problem for me. I also take notes and journal in Notability, and color with my kids when we have the time.

It's basically great for anything your finger gets in the way of, like solving a complex puzzle in The Witness :)

I bought mine with the intention of taking notes. And the occasional sketch/floor plan for figuring out or communicating an idea for rearranging a room and that sort of thing.

Haven’t used it for notes yet, but have done a few sketches. Can’t yet say that it’s better than sketching on a scrap of paper, but we’ll see. I’ll know more after a few months of use.

The problem for me is that I resist taking the time to learn how to use it effectively. Even though doing that would probably save me time in the long run.

To play devil’s advocate, why couldn’t you just do that with a simple 1$ stylus? Does the Apple Pencil’s precision really make a difference in that case?

Far as i know (I’m an android fanboy but use the ipad) only the #2 pencil works on the 2018 pros, not the first gen nor a conventional 1 dollar stylus...

Since this thread speaks on the new pencil....

It probably doesn't make a difference from a $1.00 stylus in that case as far as precision. I've had many $1.00 stylus and about everyone did the job. In particular, this one for $10 is a steal and the best stylus I've used that's not powered - https://www.amazon.com/Adonit-Mark-...qid=1546030241&sr=8-10&keywords=adonit+stylus

I wouldn't recommend the fat studio neat stylus though. Maybe it was because I backed it on KickStarter and got a really early production model, but I have to press down a lot to get it to work; enough that it made me nervous for the screen.

I use my pencil to take business notes in One Note and Good Notes. I particularly like that I can download pdf documents like packets for board meetings and import and insert a printout to One Note, and make notes directly on the deck or packet for the meeting. One Note is synced, so later I can find my notes on any of my devices.

I previously tried other stiluses (styli?) for this purpose, but nothing compares to the accuracy and precision of the Apple Pencil.

I know my 53 pencil works on my 2018 iPad Pro and my earlier iPads. The Apple Pencil 2 tap to select feature is great if you'll ever use that. The pencil is also good for scrolling during a presentation and selecting more precisely when necessary.

I used my Apple Pencil 2 for a while for the reason you use your iPad, no art work, but I now use a soft stylist instead. Reason being, I have my iPad connected to a floor stand and I cannot attach my Apple Pencil to charge easily since the holder blocks the magnet. So I either have to jerryrigged the holder each night to charge the pencil or just do it the easy way and get myself a nice cheap soft stylist. No fingerprints to worry about.

I use it to highlight and mark up PDF documents for work. It's way easier to use the pencil than my finger.

I use it for solving symbolic logic problems on an online whiteboard for my students. Hours and hours a day. :)

I got the iPad Pro 11 and the pencil for school as I’m going paperless. I love it! I highly recommend it!
