I seem to be getting 5.5 or so with just internet surfing and chatting online. I get around 4, maybe a little more with more intensive programs running. Overall I am pleased with the battery life in a product of this power!!

You seriously get 5.5 hours battery life with just chat and web surfing? What other settings? Screen brightness level? Did you calibrate your battery? That's a LONG time.

Some pointers for battery life:
Keep your display brightness as low as possible.
Turn off backlit keyboard.
Turn off any extraneous programs.
Set Battery to Better Energy Savings
Turn off any extra things like bluetooth, airport etc.

You might get about 5 hours doing that. That's pushing it though.

I'm not sure if this is normal or not, but remember that emulating PPC processors (using Rosetta for Word and Entourage) drains power.

I do not believe this is the reason... I have 2.2Ghz MBP and I was using Word, Entourage, Safari, Wifi (no Bluetooth) with display on at 3rd brightest setting and got 3:55 today before OS X forced the sleep on me.

'System Bad'

Well as the OP I thought I would post and let everyone know that when I took this unit to the Genius Bar they decided that there was an issue with the system and that swapping out for another one (my third) is best. None are currently in stock but hopefully one will arrive soon...

This is horrible.
Firefox, iTunes, and iChat open. Wifi only and 45% brightness.
