You have it plugged into a power supply yeah? That's one of the annoying constraints of WiFi syncing.. needs to be plugged into the mains.

Incorrect. It happens automatically when plugged in, but it can also be initiated manually either from the phone or iTunes at any time, including when the phone is not connected to power.

I downloaded the IOS5 GM last week and searched it up and yeah I read that you need at least Snow Leopard otherwise the option doesn't come up in the iTunes tab.

FFFFUUUUU!!!!!!

Can someone give me a rundown of upgrading to Snow Leopard for my 2008 Black Macbook? Is Snow Leopard worth it? Should I go straight to Lion? I want to make sure my laptop still runs quickly. And do I need to save my things on an external harddrive?

I have lion

I have Lion and it still doesn't work. I really don't know where to activate this option in iTunes. I looked everywhere.

It just doesn't work.

WIFI sync doesnt work.

I dont have any option in iTunes. I have updated the iTunes and still nothing.

Apple used to do do amazing things, since Lion, i feel they are pushing apps with a lot of bugs and untested.

BTW did anyone manage to see the notifications in the lock screen on the iPhone 4, with iOS5? Its not working on mine.

Alex

If you plug your iPhone into your Mac, and on the Summary page, tick "sync this iPhone over Wi-Fi".

I couldn't find it either because the scroll bar disappeared and I assumed there was nothing scrollable, so never saw those options in the screenshot.

I thought Wi-fi Sync was kind of pointless when I saw that you were required to be connected to a power source for it to function, which thankfully turns out not to be true.

Not sure if I overlooked the option in iTunes to enable Wi-fi syncing at first or not, because I know I checked that area for new options and didn't notice anything there initially. Once I checked the option, all is working great, including not having to be connected to a power source for it to function.

Also I noticed the Software Update section in Settings now says "iOS 5.0 Your Software is up to date." instead of giving an error like earlier in the day.

Well, that sucks. I'm still using my old 1st gen PPC Mini as my iTunes server.

EDIT 2: Works now! Changed the channel on my router, works fine now. Had problems in the past with the Apple TV not showing up in iTunes because of the wireless channel I was using.

Did this work for anyone else?
