It doesn´t feel like as only the button is clicking (more like the whole section under the screen), but unlike everything I tried on other phones, it feels like a button click nonetheless.

I find the button great but they really need the following features added.

A setting for how much force to activate the button. For me it is too low.
A setting for how quickly it registers multiple presses. I have had many times where it presses 2 times when I meant once.
A setting to play a button click sound along with the vibration.

It shouldn't take any force at all. It's a very light press, or tap. This is a personal issue or you broke it from using to much force since it made your hand cramp.

You definitely have a defective phone, then. I'll be 61 in December and am having no issues at all with the haptic home button.

That actually does the opposite of what I want it to do. It just makes it so you register the double and triple presses at a even slower rate. I want it to ignore double and triple presses within a certain amount of time. So ignore presses which are before a certain range. This is to ignore presses after a certain range.

Example

Ignore double presses between 0-0.1 seconds and after 0.5 seconds.

Exactly. Unless you have a defective unit (seems to be the case with the OP), it's really not such a monumental change.

I think a lot of people are "looking" for it to be different, so in their minds it's a bigger deal than it really is. If you just use it without thinking about it, it's great.

Hmmm. I wonder if this is controlled by the settings for 3D Touch. Have you tried adjusting it there?

I have tried different settings there but it has no effect on the home button. Mine is already set to max because it was kind of difficult to delete or move apps.

It can take hours for someone but days for others, you must be having a problem on the button's hardware.

I don't like the new home button easier... Like you I had it on Setting 3, but I've since switched it to Setting 1 and it's been growing on me.

Yeah I have it on 1 now and will try this for some days to see if it holds up.

I'm not pressing any harder than I did with the actual button on the 6s. I have the haptic feedback set to 1 and to be completely honest I forget the button is even different most of the time.

It shouldn't take much force.

Can't edit title but it says "used to"

Hey

I've had my new regular iPhone 7 for about 10 days now and I'm still not getting used to the Taptic Engine home button.

I'm using setting 3 and I just can't get rid of that obnoxious feeling pressing my thumb/fingers against a solid state "button".

It's gotten to the point where I'm getting pain my hand due to this, almost like some kind of repetitive strain.

Tried my friends 6s again and it was such a relief to have a real button.

Is anyone else experiencing this? I really don't wanna give up the 7 because of this :(

Tried one of the display models and loved the new home button. No more mechanical button. It was very smooth imo. Wish the 6s had it.

Oh.

Won't bother next time then.

FWIW, I really like the new home button and love the taptic feedback throughout the OS. It is a really pleasant experience and the way you get this feedback when using certain apps and performing functions.

As for the old home button, I have a 12.9 iPad Pro and every time I use the home button on that, it feels plain wrong now.

I think this is a significant step forward. Also the added bonus of improving reliability (Apple have had home button issues in the past) and the ability to now make the phone water resistant was completely worth it in my opinion.

I actually moved over from the Oneplus 3 to a 6 because I hated the solid state button as well as the screen and the Uodates from OP

I finally managed to see a 7... someone bought it off a scalper here, and I am not a massive fan of the button.
