I ordered a Studio M5 Max 18/40/48/1TB this week and got $965 trade-in for my 2024 Mini M4 Pro. I pretty much recall when I checked a few months ago it was in the $600s range, but it certianly wasn't what I just got. I'm not leasing but buying on 12 months free financing.
Offered me £47 for my 2018 maxed out specs as well.

There seems to be a lot of excitement about the new Polishing Cloth with over 200 posts 🤭

I’d simply put it down to cost. People like me who have an ageing machine have to suck it up.
People with a Studio already will probably see if the chip prices get better next year.

Either way I’m excited. Apart from my house or the cars I’ve bought I’ve never dropped that much cash in a single item.

Yeah, as a tech enthusiast I'd commonly buy what I wanted rather than what I needed, but the price hikes (not just Apple, but everywhere) have really put a damper on my enthusiasm for spending more than I have to.

It's not even about the money, really - more a reaction to the general disgust I have with the industry in general.

Yeah, same here.

Thought when I got the M1 Studio Max it was and still is the best Mac I have had.

But it's getting long in the tooth so the higher priced base M5 Studio will be offset by the resale of my beloved M1 Studio fetching around $1400 which is incredible after 4 years.

Apple Upgrade leasing option is another great reason to upgrade at $11/month effectively with my M1 sold and factored into the monthly.....
