i really want to remap my Airpods before going on vacation next week, but i'm not a developer and doubt the public beta will be out by the time i leave.

im thinking about running up to my local apple store and asking if any of the employees (probably geniuses) are running ios 11? then sync my airpods to those devices to remap them. then resync to my ios10 devices.

i know this would be "off label" for the employees are supposed to do, but they're my airpods so who cares?

Dang, I just wish the double taps worked with my MacBook Pro. The ability to skip on one side and play/pause on the other is my favorite feature of IOS 11.

Well, it turns out that the double taps on the AirPods do in fact work on my MacBook Pro...so I can skip through songs on Spotify while I multitask. Yay!

Digging up an old thread here... my AirPods are on the latest firmware, and despite numerous resets, I have yet to be able to configure the left/right AirPod individually. My other AirPods (yes, I have 2) are configurable left/right.

Any tips how to get the other to allow left/right configuration?

Nevermind, leaving them on the charger overnight next to my iPhone solved it. Even though the firmware was listed as the same as the other AirPods, something occurred that turned the feature on.

On the Mac open bluetooth preferences. Click the options of your AirPod and set them to do what you want them to do like on the phone.

MacOS and iOS allow you to set the options individual on all W1 chip devices. So the Beats let you turn noise cancellation off from within MacOS (although you can do this from the device itself). Unfortunately that doesn't seem to work with tvOS and WatchOS. I only get the option to forget the device.
