I'm just wondering if the iPad Pro Smart Cover is heavier because so many people complained that the Air 2 Smart Cover didn't lie flat on the screen (lifted at first fold)

I just bought the Smart Cover and Silicone Case from Apple and the fit is dead on perfect. Not overhanging, all holes lined up exactly spot on. Now granted....it is very overpriced as all OEM things usually are unless their on sale, but I know if I ever have an issue my local Apple Store will exchange it immediately, no UPS/FedEx shipping crap to deal with...

They are fine. The cost is what I have issue with.

My opinion... silicone cases are sort of slippery. This is in part, because nothing bonds to silicone...not even silicone or even your clean hands (can you say..."Oops, now I broke my tablet). Not to mention that manufacturing with silicone is incredibly inexpensive to do. Silicone cases also have a tendency to wear out fast. So why do you pay so much for a case that's made from the most abundant material sold at Bed Bath & Beyond? I like to go without cases altogether and just stick with a smart cover over the tablet & place it into a backpack or messenger bag. But if I had to pick one, I like TPU or Polycarbonate material. Slim, sleek & transparent.

I have the lavender case and cover on my mini 4 and it almost seems to repel lint and cat hair.
It seems the light colored cases don't attract lint, etc. The midnight blue I had for the mini 4 immediately got dirty on any surface, but I just got a mint case & cover for my new ipad Pro and it doesn't have anything on it.

The issue is that for the ipad air 2, u could buy a LEATHER case for cheaper than both of the ipad pro's two separate silicone pieces.

I wouldn't go for Leather...they're bulky and limiting. If you ever use your iPad standing up, you have to deal with the cover/stand that they come with...which again, will eventually wear out in a year.
These examples are Great ones found on Amazon:

Also, check out www.luvvitt.com for more cases. They like to use TPU which is a better material that silicone. Speaking from experience, I have the case mentioned above for the $12.99 as it works well when I want to have a case on it. Also, Luvvitts cases for iPhone are excellent! Trust me...you'll Love'm!

I don't think the combination is bad by any means, just grossly overpriced for being sold separately. I don't usually gripe about the price but $99 CDN for the back cover is crazy. I ended up buying the Apple Smart Keyboard and a Moko back cover for $10 that looks and feels the same .

The Apple store has added a few more colors to choose from. The new Ocean Blue looks great. Only available for shipping right now, at least in my area.

I just got the Smart Keyboard cover and am LOVING IT. In fact, I'm typing this on it while on a cross country flight right now. Previously I've used an iPad Mini as a companion to my MacBook Pro, but found too many compromises. Loving this combo.
