Can new Notes app attach or embed a PDF file? Even if you need to do this on the Mac app?

If so, can someone post what this looks like?

The current Notes app (at least on the Mac) will attach a PDF but it is not viewable on the iPhone app.

I am trying to compare this to what I currently use Evernote for.

Thanks!

The first image shows what PDFs look like in the app, then the second one shows what happens when you tap on the PDF.

This is making it easy to switch from Evernote.

I do like the evernote web clipper especially on my iMac to clip entire pages for offline viewing.

I know that the new notes will save web pages as links that open in Safari. Does the new Notes actually save the page/data or just the link? In other words, can you view these web pages/links when offline after they are saved to Notes?

It just saves the link, you can't view it offline.

Dang. Thanks for checking. I just need to find a good way to clip web pages (primarily from OS on my iMac). I think there is a new share sheet that creates PDFs from Safari which could work sometimes. But sometimes I want to clip a web page not in PDF format.

BD1, might just need to do a copy paste job. Maybe you could create an Automator script

Can you not just use Safari's reading list? That stores web pages for offline viewing? I'm also stoked to replace Evernote with Notes, now PDF support is integrated. :-D

iBooks can now create PDF copies of webpages from the share sheet in iOS 9. As for clipping, do I recall that OneNote offers that type of functionality on both platforms or am I misremembering?

Wait, Reading List is supposed to save websites for offline viewing? That didn't sound familiar to me, so I just tried turning off the wifi on my iPad and sure enough, I was told I needed wifi to load my reading list websites. Is there a setting I'm missing? Cuz having this would be pretty cool!

This seems to be a bug. It works for some, doesn't work for other. I submitted feedback to apple on this but other should also.

Ah, that explains it. Good to know.

Also, random question...is there a way to insert audio recordings in the new version of Notes? As opposed to video recordings?

Evernote allows you to search for text within images and PDF images; does the Notes app allow this now?

Anyone notice how responsive the handwriting / drawing is? There's no delay between the drawing appearing and your finger / stylus moving along the screen.

But is that a PDF where the text has already been OCR'd within the PDF file? I was trying to figure out if I save a photo of text (or a PDF image that hasn't been OCR'd) will I be able to search for that within Notes.

I don't know what you mean by a "photo of text", but the PDF file I have in my note has not been OCR'd.

Will, I don't expect Apple notes to OCR so I presume the answer is no unless the PDF is OCR'd/converted/searchable in a regular pdf viewer

That's what I'm thinking. So really Evernote still has a huge advantage of being able to search for text in a photo or a non-OCR'd PDF.
