Here is where to find it. Although it does a few other things too so might be better to leave it on.
Thanks, I'll leave it enabled. But do you have an idea for that ? :

Oh my god, me too ! And sometimes (regardless of the version of iOS), even when I'm not in silent mode, the little sounds (like when I press and hold a notification or a logo on the home screen) disappear. But the volume is activated, and I'm not even on silent. And sometimes it comes back, do you too ?

Surely a bug ? Have you met him, or have people you know met him ? And besides, this has, in my opinion, nothing to do with looking at the screen or not, since even when looking at the screen, the sound effects are present, and there would be no reason why these sounds are deactivated in this way since they are sort of sound indicators, when you hold down an icon on the home screen or a notification, well sometimes this little sound is deactivated, just the little vibration remains, that's enough annoying ; to resolve this I have to activate silent mode and deactivate it (with the button on the edge of the phone)

I haven't experienced that but it does sound like a bug.

I may have banged on about this before, but quiet alert tones and ringer volumes have always irked me in a small way with iPhones. In the past, to get around this, I usually convert any old favourite song or sound into an MR4 file, then upload it to audiotrimmer.com (Audiotrimmer) to customise the decibel level. This works very well. Too well sometimes!

Wow glad I’m not the only one dealing with this. Frustrating as I run a business and get lots of messages through instagram and I used to get a very audible notification ding when I got a message, now I can’t hear anything nor do I get a vibration. Also, for the last few days I wasn’t even seeing the red 1 on the Home Screen instagram app that told me I had a message, it just magically came back today. Hope they fix this at some point.

So the problem is any sound that is not the ringtone is much softer than the ringtone, there seems to be no way to turn up the these sounds, I don’t recall this being an issue, must be a bug.

If not a big, da** it Apple give us volume control over sounds!

After two weeks I've gotten used to the new alert tone. I find it more pleasant (less jarring) than the old one. Yes it is too quiet and I wish we could adjust the volume (if not change the tone) but I've become attuned to it. Though sometimes I don't hear it. But when I'm wearing my Apple Watch I can control the volume of the "ding" on that, plus I get the haptics from the watch, so there's that.

I swear something is wrong, when I was selecting a new tone for a timer the volume seemed ok, but then when it went off I’m sure the volume was lower. Apple needs to fix this, if we want to use a different tone than the default we should be able to turn it up loud enough to hear over background noise, or in pocket!

I'm still stuck with not getting any audible tone when a simple text message arrives. Default or non-default, just nothing. The closest thing I get is that when music is playing the volume will drop slightly as it does when a notification chime would be sounding. But no chime itself. Very frustrating.

I still can't get used to the new notification sound for third party apps that don't have their own sound, e.g., Instagram. I regularly miss important notifications because the new sound is just waaay too easy to overhear... This is honestly the most annoying change in recent iOS history for me.

Anyone else’s notification tones super quiet?

Phone: 14Pro.
Yes!! Same phone. Very very quiet I am not getting notifications like before the update. I don’t get any notifications for gmail, security cameras, or any other 3rd party app no sound no red number next to the app. I have missed important notifications. It’s so bad!!

Same for me I’m not getting them for security cameras, not even getting the red notification numbers so all apps don’t notify anymore. The new way to lower notification sound is terrible and that’s when it works.

Are you getting audible notifications when a text message arrives? I'm not even getting those. 17.0.3 that was released today still doesn't fix it. This is amazingly frustrating, but it's my fault - I've always had a policy of never upgrading to a major release until it's been out for months. Apple won't get my trust in the future.

On occasion it works but it’s rare to get a ringtone or text tone. This is the first time that I have had issues with an update. I know I soooo regret doing this update.

I’m not, and it’s driving me nuts. I’ve tried everything but still no sounds. I bought a new iPhone which came with ios17 so I’m stuck with it, otherwise I also avoid updating till at least the dot 1 version.

I’m at the point of desperation that I’m considering trying out a beta version just to see if it helps. The only thing holding me back there is the worry that something else will also go bad.

I haven’t seen this issue mentioned in the beta threads, but those are long threads so may have simply missed it.
