So I have a Question ... I have created and booted from a 1TB thunderbolt 3 external boot for Mac OS 12.0 BETA on my M1 MBA.
It shows up in System Preferences as bootable. It also shows up when I hold down the "ON" button until system restore options show up and is listed beside the system HD as a bootable option.
Are you telling me that it is still use the system HD to be able to see and choose the external drive to boot from, and that if the internal HD is damaged, it will not boot from the external drive.
I have erased the internal HD and the external shows up and boots the system. Is it that I have NOT erased a hidden partition that provides access to the external ... or what the heck is going on with all this, "... it can't be done ..."
Now, I have only used thunderbolt externals, could it be that it won't work with USB external drives?
I'd like to know if I actually accomplished something, or am I just fooling myself?
