The Titan supports boot screens on UEFI systems. Apple uses a proprietary EFI, and needs proprietary firmware to show the boot screen.

The new drivers will work on any Pascal GPU - but the drivers can't provide boot screens.
Until Apple abandons the ancient, deprecated, proprietary version of EFI that Apple uses and embraces the widely used UEFI standard - I wouldn't expect boot screens unless you get a card from MVC.

But then what? You'll have to run Windows to get the best out of it. Then your cMP will be dropped out of the next version of macOS so you won't get anymore driver updates or tech support. You'll probably be stuck with a beta driver. Nvidia is just doing what they did for the last 2.5 years to Maxwell users.
Even running at a lower efficiency would still be better than the 5770 it came with. I know it'll be dropped soon, but depending how the next Mac Pro turns out I'll probably upgrade to that. This is just a stopgap measure.
I wouldn't spend more than 100 bucks to upgrade a cMP. I did all those upgrades (m.2, Maxwell, USB 3.1, etc etc) and it was the biggest waste of money. Sold the cMP - built a PC and bought a new MBP. They run circles around the cMP in most real world usage.
I disagree. Get a 5,1 and upgrade the crap out of it to hold you over till the new MacPros ship.
The 970 is Maxwell, not Pascal, and has already been supported in the existing Nvidia drivers for quite some time.

Pike on his blog did mention that future modular MP will use new generation EFI. If it will allow the GPU to load it's own GOP UEFI driver then who knows... We'll see in 2019

That's ok if you want to deal with building and maintaining a Hackintosh.
The "new" generation UEFI was released in January 2007. I hope that Apple uses that, instead of forking off a proprietary version of UEFI.So far they do.

I've got 3.1, 4,1 and 5.1 machines. The 5.1 with the GTX Titan X is pretty great. Getting ready to upgrade the CPU to extend it's lifespan even further.

Come on NY...as I've repeatedly seen on these boards over the last few years...PCIe cards are soooo last century. Get with the future man...
