I'm quite worried about my battery. I charged it overnight so this morning it was fully charged. I've only used it for maybe 2 hours today and it's at 32%.
Bluetooth off, location off etc.
It seems to go down maybe 10% in about an hour when I'm not using it.

10% an hour whilst using it is normal as 10% x 10hrs = 100%

If your not using it then there's something going wrong.

If its jail broken I would suggest you check whats running in the background. It would also be worth doing a hard reboot to flush any sort of background processes or memory leaks that may be running down the battery. :D

I hardly ever look at what my battery % is. I don't usually notice until I get the 20% warning. At that time I might recharge it. But I use it exclusively for home. No grab and go.

Its not jail broken, and yes the battery goes down a lot when I'm not using it. Pity there's not a usage area in the settings like the iPhone has.
I'll do a reboot tonight see how it runs the next few days, if it's still the same I'll take it back.

Don't Worry, Be Happy!

Birds are meant to fly,

Fish are meant to swim,

SUVs to roll over,

And....

The iPad is meant to be used!

That high capacity battery is there for your personal convenience and satisfaction!

It absolutely DOES NOT require pampering or carefully planned maintenance. Just Use It! Charge it to 40%, 70%, 100%..... it won't matter all that much in the end.

By the time it starts to falter in the far-off future, you'll be happily using the 3rd, 4th or 5th generation iPad Pro.

Have a little faith in Apple's engineering. They wouldn't have made it non-replaceable if it was at all likely to fail until well after you no longer care.

totally agree with this post. In the end it really isn't going to infect that much anyway.

You must be running flash on your iPad. Everyone knows flash can really be a drain on the battery.

Update.

Thanks to all the advice in this thread. Since I've turned off the percentage indicator life has been good. If I know I'm going to be out and about, I charge it. If not, I wait for the 20% indicator to pop up. I also learned to separate my iPhone battery philosophy from my iPad battery philosophy. Two completely different things.

Thanks all. :D

I know some say not to drain these batteries down, but Apples web site says you should ideally drain it to nothing till it dies, once a month and do a full charge.

I haven't charged mine for three days and I'm barely below 50% with moderate usage. Unreal. The battery is really a something to marvel over.

I let my battery get to 20% each time before I charge it.

I do have a charger handy though

As with my phone, iPods, and whatever other electronics I will always keep my iPad on the charger at night no matter what percentage it is at.
