Getting ready to finally launch the VR Mac app I've been working on for the last year.
I really believe it's going to change the perception of VR on the Mac and maybe even influence the roadmap for hardware manufacturers (and other VR developers!).

If there is anyone out there with a Mac (any model) and a Oculus DK2, sign up at https://www.cindori.org/vr to get an early Beta invite.

Cindori,

I had a DK2 on MP3,1 with Radeon 7970. Handled stuff like a dream. With DK2 support dying, I upgraded to a nMP with d700s. Of course then we heard that Macs wouldn't be supported.

So then I dusted off an old super micro workstation and with a few upgrades + Vive it rocks everything!

I hate to see the looming standards war (HTC vs. Vive, Blu Ray vs HD DVD, etc). Will it be possible to port your app to Vive or OSVR headsets?

Regardless I have signed up and am looking forward to checking out your app.

Vive support is up next, but it won't arrive until HTC adds support for the platform. Fortunately, they have been rumoured to be launching support in the next few months. I've got a Vive and I'm waiting.

Do you still have your DK2?

Sweet - glad to hear Vive support is on the way!! I'm also anxious to see how quickly the Steam Mac / Linux beta gains traction.

I passed on the DK2 and 3,1.

If you ever need someone to help beta test Vive on nMP, hit me up!! Will be dabbling in some larger scale eGPU also when time and funds allow.

Very strange and I feel very sorry for you....Which Win 10 edition do you have? mine is anniversary edition 64 bit. Have you updated AMD drivers to the latest Crimson drivers? Anyway, I hope you have a Winclone image to restore your Bootcamp partition. Otherwise you can use the Win DVD install disk to repair the Windows bootloader. If everything return to normal and if you want to try again to install Rift, I would recommand to uninstall it completely first and then re-install it from scratch. To do so, first download the Rift' setup tool which will automatically install the rift'software and then proceed with configuration of headset, sensor etc...Good luck...
I thought I can give it a try but this method killed my Win10. Setup started fine and I heard the *new device connected*-sound. The screen wenn black and I couldn't do anything. Waited for few minutes but nothing happened. Whenever I boot Windows I see the blue win10 logo - then only black screen

=(
Were you able to make it work? I got the same problem!

If I play a VR game on mac with your VR desktop app and an Oculus Rift DK2, will I see it on a virtual desktop or will it work as expected?

Sorry didn't want to reply to this...I just wanted to ask you a question.
It's my first time in Forums.

Correct!

And if anyone missed it, the app I was talking about on previous pages in this topic is now released:

So much for "Mac's can't do VR"

yes. Use these drivers: http://www.bootcampdrivers.com

works fine and performance is much better now.
Hey Thank you for your answer! It got me one step closer!
With this I was able to go further in the Oculus setup but now, on the screen where it looks at the connection status of Headset HDMI, Headset USB and Sensor USB, the Headset HDMI is not being detected.
I am using Oculus DK2 with MacPro (late 2013) with boot camp on Windows 10 anniversary Version.
I have tried to plug it in directly in the hdmi port and in an thunderbolt to hdmi adapter. Is it possible that I need an ACTIVE adapter?

Thank you for your help

Just went to Best Buy and picked up the rift. We have it running via boot camp on windows 10. Only issue is that it's running via the HDMI port and can't get it to run via tb2-hdmi...might just be the amazon dongle we are using. Any ideas? If you need help message me.

MacPro 2013 w/ d700

Hi guys, I'm in the same boat!

Mac Pro 2013 with D500's and Windows 10 x64 Anniversary Edition (v1604)

Managed to get updated AMD drivers from bootcampdrivers.com (got 17.5.2 to work) but I am getting the same 'HDMI not connected' error (USB's are all green).

I have tried HDMI in Mac Pro direct and also tried two different HDMI to DisplayPort adaptors (into Thunderbolt).

I am getting an image (and sound) on the Oculus headset but it is acting as an extend desktop and is not recognised by Steam VR or Oculus.

Has anyone else got this to work??

Same boat here too... Maybe It's our processor, OP stated that he was using the D700 GPU.

Let me know if you figure anything out.

ColeFortson, I tried everything for a couple of weeks but in the end gave up, I'm afraid. I just don't think it's going to work effectively - sorry.

Running Oculus CV1 on Mac Pro 2009 W5590 with GTX1060 6GB and Win 10. 3 sensors, room scale. 3m x 2m. So far, dont find any games laggy at all.

Running Oculus on similar Mac Pro 2009, with dual X5680, RX580 8gb Win 7 Pro, USB3 card. Games run fine, but get message from Rift saying my computer doesn't meet requirements, but all software runs fine. Anyone else get this message?

I just wanted to say, have you tried the new adrenaline drivers from Bootcampdrivers.com?
