Odd looking screen

I don't suppose this is anything to do with light and dark mode? That can produce some really odd colours sometimes.
A long shot but maybe worth checking out?
Go into system preferences> general and you'll see light and dark mode and the various colour settings for that.
My hope is it's somehow picked up some odd setting when updating. That would also explain why it's slightly different from site to site

i changed color profiles and on some pages there were still 'sync' and 'wheel' on part or all over the page.
it doesnt look like editing the profiles would help. i clean-installed the HD; nothing. Safari 14.1 displays all pages right, so far. i dont know when big sur is coming. that has 14.1. oh well, this thing is late 2015.

i got big sur. no more 'sync' and 'wheel' on any pages. but some pages are still colored. but not much.
