How likely is it that Apple will announce a 27” iMac at WWDC?

Not sure when it will happen. But waiting to see if the bigger iMac will get colours

I’d imagine both the Air and Pro lines would get updated every year. Both using the same generation of chip design. The difference between the air and pro would be: higher core counts, better multi-thread sustained performance, better GPU, XDR screens, more ports, more ram capacity, more storage capacity, more external displays.

If they were to put an older chip design in a Mac, I would prefer that to be called maybe a MacBook SE or something. So it’s the cheapest options using and older design. I could see the current MacBook Air design sort of filling that spot in a few years after they update the air to a newer design. Maybe they could sell it for $799 or something. Who knows.

IMO the biggest issue right now is how they have a 2-port and a 4-port version of the 13” MBP. It’s confusing to some people because the 2-port version is also less powerful (I know right now it’s not because of M1 but traditionally it’s the lesser of the 13” models). It’s not clear by the name. If they just got rid of that, and had two air’s instead I feel it would eliminate the confusion.
Oh right I misunderstood what you meant. You meant, an M1 Air, M1X Pro. then a M2 Air and M2X Pro next year; etc. I thought you meant a M1, M2, M3 air concurrently!.

Yes, the 2 vs 4 but same name, but also look at this Air situation is weird. It was bad enough with actual different CPUs/battery/etc. Now it's down to a ridiculous "Do you want a fan?" question.

Given what the 'leaked' schematics seem to show for the 16", and what happend with the iMac, I wouldn't bet the farm on ports staying the same on the next Air/etc either.

I'm just looking for silicon in a bigger screen size. More RAM would be nice too.

Hanging on to my 2011 imac to see what happens in June.

Apple loves to introduce something hype-worthy, let it sit and generate sales for a little while, then introduce the next logical thing later on. So it seems totally foreseeable that the "consumer" base (the much larger portion of Apple's customers) got their Macs first.

The Intel Macs which remain "unreplaced" are the higher-end MacBook Pro, the higher-end iMac, and the highest-end Mac Pro. All of those are Macs designed to appeal to the powerhouse-cravers, the performance connoisseurs, and the higher payers.

My prediction is software at WWDC, iPhones in September, and the dazzling "pro" Mac event in October.
