In that case, I should get down to the bank tomorrow and start cashing some traveller's cheques!! ..just in case it is early. (COD)

Also, the apple operator wanted a phone number. Since I won't be getting a cell phone till next week, she said for me to call her back with the number so that she can inform me when to arrange a dropoff. Is this necessary, or do they anyways just email me when they are going to drop it off? It may be a few more days till I can get a cell phone. ( I still have to set up a bank account so I can also get a cell phone)

In my case, they did not tell me when they are going to drop it off. However, if you missed a delivery, they will leave you a note, and you can call them to arrange a time for delivery. Keep in mind that the delivery company's personnel usually doesn't speak English, so it will be a good way to practice your Japanese.:D

I actually needed my gaikokujin(外国人) card to get a cellphone. I guess Osaka is better when it comes to purchasing a cellphone.

Hey Kalun!
I'm planning to get a cell phone tomorrow, but I need my bank account, AS WELL AS my alien status card/temporary certificate(till I get my card which will be in a month).

As for the order, I guess it shipped out yesterday. Also, it says, "estimated delivered by Nov. 2" I hope me or my wife will be home when they come by. Today, we went to look for places to cash out traveller's cheques and it was so hard! Granted, it was 7:30pm. Some people told us and we've read that banks are closed at 3:00 here. However, I went to a few banks in the Nanba area and they were still open at 7:30, however, they weren't able to cash out traveller's cheques. I heard the post office is good for cashing out traveller's cheques. Fingers crossed for that.

You are complaining now, wait until you experience the horror of ATM! Most ATMs in Japan are not 24/7. (I have a Shinsei bank account, so I am safe :D )

Did you start working already? During the first two months in Japan, I had tons of 飲み会 (nomikai or drinking party). It is also very common to go for a 二次会(nijikai = second party) and 三次会(sanjikai = third party). And yes, they all involve drinking...so have fun! :p

Heya Guys!
So, I teach in the namba area, just at the OCAT area at the namba station in the kintetsu building. We live just behind the nipponbashi station, so it's super close to work ( about 15 minutes walk)

I started working this last monday. We haven't had any introduction parties. The company doesn't seem to really do that. There are so many employees, I can understand that. Honestly, I don't think I could handle going to so many drinking parties, especially cuz I don't drink hehehe, but I go to the pubs once in a while with my coworker friends, but other than that, it's mostly been my wife and I touring around, and scoping some good restaraunts, and cool scenery.

Tomorrow we're going to den den town which is just down our street. We still haven't actually been there, but I want to go check out all the electronics bargains that area supposedly has to offer. I need a plugin for my ipod video, an optical mouse and a case for my new mbp. (p.s. using it I feel like I got a ferrari compared to my previous computer.

Anyone have an idea for a good gym in the namba area?
