On amazon.de (Germany and Austria) it's at the moment just 61,99 Euro for Germany and 62,51 for Austria (including 19 or 20% sales tax) (=about 70.60 or 71,20 US$) per year for an instant redemption code or a keycard send via post (free shipping) for 5 Macs or Windows PCs, 5 Tablets + 5 Phones, 5 x 1 TB OneDrive, 5 x 60 Skype minutes and you can even still install Office 2011 on a Mac if you don't like the 2016 version.

Looks like they changed it now really to 5 tablets AND 5 phones. Then it would be 15 devices.

The personal edition for 1 computer, 1 tablet and 1 phone of the same stuff is 44.89€ and cheaper if you choose the postage, the instant download code ist 69€.

Those are really fair prices for what you get, even if you need a little part of it. I paid last year just 8 Euro more on Amazon for the Home Edition and the year before also about 70 Euro and even got a 10 Euro gift card for the MS store in addition.

I don't really like OneDrive and changed to Dropbox in the meanwhile. From the Office suite I just need Word and Excel very rarely now. But I use the 300 Skype minutes for phone calls to my home country.

For one year Dropbox Pro with 1 TB I paid 99 Euro, I don't even need 150 GB but Dropbox has no other Choice, iCloud is getting slower and slower and OneDrive is getting better. At least it is able to upload my iTunes Library now, to have a backup. But it's horrible with big files like a Parallels VM for example in it, because it gets completely uploaded again if you just start and shutdown it.

Edit: It's just 240 Skype for me and I use 120 at maximum. I gave one account to my brother and would at least share it with one mores family member but there is not anybody in my family who needs it.

If iCloud is getting better I would choose 200 GB when everything ends this year, that would be just 35.88€, I already have just Numbers and Pages installed instead of Word and Excel.

When it first was announced, I was very much against the subscription fee business model of MS Office. However, when the full-featured versions were released for the iPad, I bit. And since the current versions support the Apple Pencil, Split Screen and the enhanced screen resolution of the 12.9" iPad Pro, I find it's totally worth the annual cost. I can get a ton of "real" work done.

And with the included 1TB of cloud storage, I'm even thinking of cancelling my Dropbox subscription and saving the $10/month.
and if the other 4 family or friend can help pay

Have to give MS credit, they've always put out great versions of Office on Apple devices. I remember Jobs at one WWDC saying their relationship with MS was their best developer relationship. I love using Outlook on the iPad Mini 4 and the office apps on the device as well, it all works superbly and easily transferable with my work PC.

I believe it's 1 tb per user

1TB is a great plus as well.

Yeah, getting 1TB for me and another 1TB for my wife iced the deal for me. I use the free version of Dropbox that provides 16GB as a general utility for sharing onsie-twosie kinds of things among devices.

I have been using office 365 for a couple years now. I just ordered the family pack for $67
One drive is very convenient.

I have an iPad 4, bought a 12.9 Pro for a week and returned it for a smaller Pro last night. I used the backup from my 4 to restore my smaller Pro when I got it. I can not access The office apps for editing on my 9.7. It says I need a subscription. I can do edits on my iPhone 6S.

Shouldn't I be able to edit Office things on my 9.7 Pro? Can I fix this somehow?

Are you logged in? I think you need to be logged in to get the editing capabilities? If my memory isn't wrong, then restoring from the backup doesn't restore the keychain (which helps keep you logged in).

Yeah it asked me to log in and when I do it says I don't have an office 365 sub. But when I login on my phone, it works fine.

I tried to reinstall them but it isn't helping. I should clarify something, I am trying to edit an EXISTING Document. Is that something they even let you do with the free version of Office for iPad?

On the 12.9" is office 365 paid subscription on the iPad 9.7" its the free version

His problem is that he has the 9.7" iPad and it's requesting a subscription login. He had the 12.9" IPP but returned it for the 9.7" - it's as if it is confused that he went from the larger to the smaller Pro and still thinks he's using the 12.9". At this point, he probably needs to contact Microsoft for help.

I've been using office for a while and only last night realized I could use it on iPad. Very solid product. No issues with the subscription. For the user above, uninstall and reinstall will likely work.

Thanks for all replies. How much functionality should i expect to have with office on my 9.7 iPad?

I should mention test my PHONE asks me to login and says I don't have an office 365 subscription if I try to edit an existing document I already made (one I made outside of office for iOS.)

Does office have a website or link that clearly explains the free 365 things?

Features requiring a subscription:
  • Change tracking
  • Insert section breaks
  • Enable columns in page layout
  • Customize headers and footers on different pages
  • Change page orientation
  • Add custom colors to shapes
  • Insert and edit WordArt
  • Add shadows and reflection styles to pictures
  • Add and modify chart elements
  • Highlight table cells with custom color shading

Thanks. What if you're trying to open a document made on the desktop version that already had those features?
I think, nothing. All the features are about things you cannot actively do. So, you can open a document with wordart, you just cannot edit the wordart.

I don't know if it matters but Microsoft account doesn't have office or anything really tied to it. But I guess if things were working like they should, I shouldn't need to login at all right? I need to try and email Microsoft.

Yes I know that, thats the reason he had to remove it and the download it for 9.7" that will be free, is there a diferante between the office for 12.9" and 9.7"? except of the cost?
