I've already mentioned it in a few other threads, but before I used f.flux I was getting terrible migraines everyday from using my phone at night because the blue light was so harsh on my eyes. After using f.lux I no longer get migraines from using my phone.

So that's why it's a big deal for me.

Give it a shot. It's an amazing tweak. And it's free.

Also add that, even if one doesn't get migraine, he surely gets some insomnia. See http://www.nytimes.com/2011/07/05/health/05light.html?_r=1 and http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3682804...s/t/ipad-could-cause-insomnia-researchers-say - two very important articles on this subject.

Oh yeah it definitely helps with the insomnia factor as well. But the biggest advantage I get from using f.lux is not having daily migraines anymore.

But the two do go hand in hand, so maybe I should have listed them together? Before using f.lux I would on a normal basis stay up until 3-3:30 am and now I am (for the most part) in bed by 1:30 am every night. No other significant lifestyle changes in the last few months either.

Seems pretty crazy how a little jailbreak tweak could really save you some sanity.

If someone told me that I could jailbreak for one tweak and one tweak only I would do it just to get f.lux.

Everything else is icing on the cake.

I tried out f.lux for a few minutes, hated it, then uninstalled it.

After a month or so I pushed myself to use it at least a few days. The tint still isn't visually appealing but boy does it reduce eye strain when I wake up in the morning to turn off my alarm and backup alarms. It's definitely a keeper now.

Oh yeah, I know! The very first time I tried it was on my Mac. And I remember thinking, why do I want to have orange light at night? But the more I used it I began to see that I was reducing the brightness of my display and the light of the LCD screen wasn't harsh anymore. It was particularly noticeable for me when alternating looking at my TV and then my laptop screen. A few quick trys of turning it off at night and getting majorly blinded in the bargain was enough to sell me on this.

Once I jailbroke my iPhone this was the first tweak I installed. As I've said earlier, it's very subtle, but once it's gone you KNOW its missing. Each of us uses it in different ways and thus it benefits all of us differently. But that's what's awesome about f.lux. It has the ability to work in different ways for different users.

Just wanted to say thanks to you guys mentioning it and giving detail about it..I'm happy to have installed f.lux. Never really noticed the difference until after I installed and let the settings sit for a day. Incredible difference for my eyes.

Probably because all the abilities unlocked via jailbreak.

1) Emulators (w/ BT controller) - Turns your iPhone into a portable gaming system.
2) Adblocker - Ads suck, this blocks them all (even in apps outside of safari)
3) NCSettings - Quick notification center controls just a swipe away instead of wasting time in settings.
4) Springtomize - Hides apps you don't want, changes apps shape, hides dock, shows amount of ram memory in the status bar, increases folder size, etc. basically the best way to visually tweak your iPhone the way you want it.
5) Zephyr - intuitive gesture controls, the way all smartphones should be.
6) KillBackground - kill all background apps with the touch of a small button in your switcher instead of having to hold down for wiggle mode and close them one by one
7) Spotlock - Spotlight is useless to me, so this lets me lock my phone with a simple swipe o what used to be the spotlight screen
8) Activator - set it to unlock phone by short hold of home or power button so I don't have to reach back down to slide to unlock.
Hmm can you elaborate on this, what emulator do you use and what controller? Are you talking NES and if so is not buggy or choppy?

I'm very interested. :D

I'm in this group as well...

I haven't took it off since you guys recommended it, it kind of just does its things in the background at night.

One of these nights when its late at night and dark in your room, turn it off in the settings app and be surprise at how bright blue the screen is normally. It's shockingly uncomfortable. F.lux is siny amazing.

For the jailbreak emulators I use the best ones out there by Robert Broglia (you can go to his website at http://www.explusalpha.com/home/general-info/platforms/ios/ to puchase them): GBA.emu, NES.emu, GBC.emu, and Snes9x EX. The developer always updates them (just got an update 2 days ago adding new emulator abilities) and they allow you to customize the button controls, something I believe no other iphone gaming emulator can.

As for the bluetooth controller I use the Gametel http://www.amazon.com/Gametel-Portable-Controller-Mobile-Tablets/dp/B006L2HBXA/ref=pd_sim_cps_7 since its:
- has a clip that holds your iphone in place
- super portable to be able to take it anywhere
- 9 hour battery life
- only $30 (most other options being $50 or more or less portable)

We should be spokespeople for f.lux lol

I used to think bitesms was the best jailbreak tweak, but if apple for some amazing reason gave us ONE option to put in ios7 I would willingly give up quick reply/quick compose for f.lux.

Bitesms is convenient, but after using f.lux for a day or so, it is necessary. There's no way I could go back to an iPhone without it. That's why I will never willingly upgrade to a new iPhone until the jailbreak is out. I don't care what awesome features it has.

What if the awesome feature is f.lux :D

For me it is BiteSMS, TetherMe (although i do not use it much) and infiniDock

I would rather keep my jailbroken device and wait for the 4-5 months it will probably take to jailbreak the new iOS AND keep f.lux lol

Good thing I will most likely never have to worry about that kind of situation though.

I don't know about that. I can see Apple advertising that iOS is better than Android or WinMo because it has a feature that makes your screen easier to view and use at night. Apple innovates again and profits because people start using their iDevice at night more!

Something ridiculous like that. Would not surprise me. I read the other day how Apple lifted WiFi Sync from it's developer and made it part of iOS. It used to be a Cydia tweak (still there too).

Lol yeah they'd put their own ridiculous apple spin on it.

I think if that ever were implemented it would be a scaled down and / or severely crippled version of f.lux. Like only one setting (candle) and it would probably not work half the time like the auto brightness haha

for me its not a single tweak or even a bunch of them - its the whole experience.

we all know iOS is extremely boring and limited; and when you experience JB you realise everything you were missing before.

if i ever were to lose my JB and had to return to stock it would seriously diminish my appeal towards my phone. heck since the JB i no longer envy friends who use android.

Definitely. Apple over-simplifies their stuff so that women / the elderly people (the main target area of Apple - definitely not us power users or geeks) stay with them. This is why they don't add anything "complicated" to iOS, not even a single slider. And then they worry about us geeks leaving for Android or other, much more free operating systems.

Jailbreaking lets me enjoy my iPhone. Versus being stock and frustrated by iPhone's limitations!

Hey wait a minute, I'm a woman lol
