I thought that I was lucky as well as my wireless was rock solid. Last night while surfing on my couch, I got the CONNECTING popup a number of times. I have a Linksys 160N. Today at my office, I'm noticing that the wireless connection icon keeps disappearing and reappearing. Seems strange if this is a software issue - until now, had no wifi issues at all. I hope they get to the bottom of it soon.

I have the FiOS Actiontec MI424WR router (standard issue) running WEP and I'm having the same problems as the OP. I'm not changing to WPA, though, because then my devices that don't support WPA won't work.

It's ridiculous to expect me to re-configure my entire network for the iPad when my iPod touch, Wii, Xbox 360, PSP, DS Lite, media center, hackintosh Dell netbook, hackintosh custom desktop, and others all connect perfectly.

I'll be waiting (impatiently) for OS 3.2.1.

Although I should say, even with the problem, I'm loving the device itself. I just wish Apple would stop acting like it's fixed because they think it's a dual-band issue. And "switch to WPA" is not a fix.

To those with FiOS: I see Verizon lists a MI424WR-Gen2 router on their site. Does anyone using this version have issues? I'm trying to determine if it's worth the pain and anguish of trying to get Verizon to send me a new one.

What devices don't support WPA?

WPA allows you to assign a password instead of having to use that awful password that's taped on the side of your router.

I have just about all the same devices as you (though my 360 and one of my PS3's are wired) and it took me no longer then 10 minutes to complete the process. WEP is easily hackable and had I known I could change from WEP to WPA in the first place, I would have done it a long time ago.

I have the Gen 2, but it's not going to make a difference for you.

Same Fios router.

Connection was initially the problem until I
brightened the screen a bit.

The real problem is WiFi range. I can't go
very far without the signal bar dropping down
to almost nothing.

Thanks for the Gen 2 confirmation. That saves me some time.

The DS Lite doesn't support WPA. I also have an ancient laptop and an old Skype phone (which I admittedly don't use) that don't. One of my friends' laptops doesn't.

Regardless of how many devices there are or how frequently they're used, I don't see why I should ever need to lock myself and others out of using the internet. Especially considering the iPod touch has no problem and uses the same OS.

Even just the hassle of making me boot up all these devices and manually re-configure how each of them connects to the internet is absurd for a company that prides itself on straightforwardness and high customer satisfaction ratings.

Even if I do eventually cave and retire my DS and give up on all my old electronics and enable WPA (assuming that even fixes the problem), I'd still like to see Apple fix this issue. Or at least acknowledge it. Who knows what else in their networking code has suddenly become much less reliable.
