I think it's time we make our lists of what we want and hope that Apple notices and takes our wishes into account.

I know that not all of you will like the suggestions below but, those are what I want. Please list your own suggestions.

New Features:

Free navigation with an ability to download maps to use them offline.
Live icons - Icons that change according to an event, for example a weather app could show the temperature in it's icon.
Full Bluetooth support, sending files, contacts, syncing, etc...
Wi-Fi Direct support/Airdrop, sending files, contacts, syncing, etc...

Tweaks:

Increase folder size, allow for multiple pages in folders - InfiniFolders

SBSettings(Quick switches) widget in Notification Center - Wifi, bluetooth, airplane, cellular data, 3G, brightness

Integrate Spotlight search into notification center - put it on top(above stocks/weather), The search should be instantly accessible from anywhere with minimal taps/swipes.

Camera app needs Timer, time/date/location tagging, 720p @ 60FPS recording option, White balance, Exposure, Light sensitivity(ISO), Contrast
Sharpness, all of these should be added.

Birthday's in Calendar - Right now iOS reads your contacts and displays birthdays of your contacts in the Calendar, but I want it to show the actual age the person is turning in the brackets too... example: John Smith [35].

Ability delete photos from Photo Library

Ability to view the image file information, EXIF(date of taking, size, etc)

Calendar - upcoming event badges on calendar(with an ability to adjust how far in advance you can see your events, 24hours, 7 days, 14 days, etc..)
I know badges are used for invitations right now, but how often do you get those?

Calendar events in Notification Center/Lockscreen - Configure look at head, it only shows events for the next 24 hours, what if I want to show events for the next 72 hours?

iMessage - Needs an ability to share location(Map) like with WhatsApp, right from the iMessage. Current you can only send photos from iMessage, but Maps and Contacts shortcuts should be added too. Also it would be great if the image EXIF data was preserved when sent so the receiver could "open" that image in Maps and navigate... quickly snap a picture of a location, send it, the receiver gets the image, taps "Open in Maps" and finds the route to you.

Prevent shut down when the phone is locked.

Weather in the lockscreen, near the clock, should be optional though.

Delivery notification for normal SMS messages.

Snooze time configuration option for alarm, (amount of snoozes, time in between).

More "Pull down to refresh/do something" mechanics throughout the system.

Private browsing switch IN the Safari, so you can switch it on/off while you're in Safari, not having to go into Settings.

Swiping to get rid of notification banners - swipe them left or right.

Swipe up for the multitasking bar, Volume control and music controls should be available right there, on top of each other so you don't have to swipe to the left for them.

GridTab view for Safari.

YouTube continuous playlist play.

Maps - When you are picking a bookmark or a contact in Maps there is this text in the title taking up space "Choose a bookmark/contact to view on the map" Remove that, most people already know how to use it.

Multitasking gestures like in Zephyr(Cydia tweak) - Swipe from bottom up from the bottom and hold for Switcher, swipe up/flick up from the bottom to go back to the Homescreen. The Switcher itself should also be doubled in size IMO and audio controls should be placed above the app icons.

Desktop:

iTunes... Drag and drop(manually manage) pictures without the need to sync. I don't want to have a folder specifically for the iPhone, I want to simply grab a picture and drag it into the iPhone.

jvmxtra
1. Map is a must n better integration with os
2. Separate volume control for ringer n other alerts
3. Better notification

SporkLover
An integrated Facebook upload in the native photo app

kjs862
Multiple user accounts with fast user switching

Yumunum
-A full filesystem, or (more realistically) a seperate place to store any files if you want to. We NEED this.

-full iCloud syncing. iWorks file syncing is completely stupid right now. You can't get your computer's files unless you use something like Dropbox, but even if you do that, you can't re-save the files back into Dropbox once you're done editing. Dropbox doesn't even let you MOVE files. It's a terrible "solution"

bandofbrothers
An option to add e mail folders as I use a pop account would be good

TM WAZZA
Screen calibration so people who are complaining that their screens are setup with too cool or too warm temperature can fix it to their liking.

The Phazer
One click podcast updating. I can update podcasts, but I have to go and search for them on at a time rather than the phone just grabbing new episodes of my subscriptions. This is, bluntly, crazy, and a really bad user interface.

Move (or at least give access to) the EQ controls from the settings app to the Music app. Y'know, where they'd actually be useful instead of a dozen clicks per song away.

Allow the music app to queue up a track to be played next, rather than immediately.

It would be very helpful to block specific SSID names from ever appearing. Any UK user would block BT Openzone in a second.

User data should be in user folders. It's crazy that you have to jailbreak to get access to your own data - the SMS database, Voicemails etc etc should be in publicly accessible folders.

Please just scrap the YouTube app so Google would port their better webapp to native code.

Newsstand implementation is clumsy. The API shouldn't be limited to this folder, nor should apps automatically be funnelled there.

iMessage should be pulled into a separate app. - Don't agree with this TBH.

summitRun

Delete email from the notification screen.

Thanks!

I just wish there was an animation of swiping though, cause it feels strange when you swipe it and it folds up.

-Get rid of this crap Notification Center
-Hire David Ashman
-Allow him to implement Lock Info as the new NC

Then Implement these JB tweaks:
-SBsettings Equivalent
-Spring Flash
-Folder Enhancer
-GridLock

Ah, gotcha. Yeah something would be nice, especially to hint that it's even possible to do rather than discovering it on accident. Or like me from someone else.

Native DivX/XviD/MKV support

This is actually a bad idea I reckon. Problem is, the hardware has dedicated parts for playing mp4/h264. Other formats have to be played in software - which really hammers the CPU, which in turn kills battery life. Besides, none of them are actually standards, and none offer any benefit over H264 (so far as I know, maybe MKV does?). It's worth converting stuff to H264 just for the battery life improvement.

Otherwise there's some good suggestions in there :)

The problem with lists like this is that everyone's wants/needs are different
Honestly, I would say very few of the items listed here interest me at all
I wouldn't necessarily scream if they were implemented
But I certainly don't feel deprived because they are not present now

Not a big fan of jailbreak tweaks TBH.

Regarding the video play though, even if it does run the battery down, it would still be nice to have ability to play those, I don't think battery would be a "problem" since you'd be consciously running the video.

Much like GPS absolutely eats battery now but I can control it and turn it off when I don't want it to run the battery down.

But it's better to have those features than not to have them right?

Probably about 80% of things in iOS 5 I could easily do without but it's still nice that they are there.

I like your list.

I would love to see Apple had a quick compose option for Text. We will probably get that in a .x release...hopefully. If not, oh well, BiteSMS, does a great job. It will be the first app I download when the jailbreak is available for the 4S.

Only if they do not degrade performance or battery life
There are very few "must haves", and most, if not all of them are present
The remaining tweaks are mostly minor preferences that some want and others don't care about, and each person's list varies widely in that regard

I think it's time we make our lists of what we want and hope that Apple notices and takes our wishes into account.

I know that not all of you will like the suggestions below but, those are what I want. Please list your own suggestions.

With the understanding that Apple will not see any of this, I'll throw in my two cents for our own entertainment. I just don't like ever thinking Apple will see, much less listen to, any of these types of threads.

New Features:

Free navigation with an ability to download maps to use them offline.

The navigation is a must. I think with the acquisition of C3 Technologies, we'll see this come to fruition, albeit maybe not in iOS 6.0 but closer to a 6.2 or .3 release.

The other mindset of this is that they could release such a thing, indeed, with 6.0. Apple has almost always made it a point to not release something unless it's ready for prime time. They've broken this "mold" with Siri, and it's still working. So who knows?

As far as offline use is concerned, it's possible, but unlikely unless they implement a Navigon 2.0-esque system in which you download maps on a state-by-state need.

Live icons

I assume you mean this a la LiveClock and LiveWeather. I wouldn't call this a feature so much. More of a bit of flashyness. Also unlikely as it doesn't serve much purpose to a majority of users only to use more battery.

Integrated SIP support/configuration

I don't see why this needs to be "integrated" in any sense.

Native DivX/XviD/MKV support

I agree with what was said earlier. Not such a great idea. Just goes back to beating up the battery life just to please a minority of users.

Full Bluetooth support, sending files, contacts, syncing, etc... Wi-Fi Direct support/Airdrop

I'll take it a step further and just mention NFC instead.

Tweaks:

Increase folder size, allow for multiple pages in folders - InfiniFolders

Sounds reasonable, however I would guess that Apple didn't do this either because the current configuration was more pleasing to work with or because "infinifolders" style folder systems take too much memory to open smoothly.

SBSettings(Quick switches) widget in Notification Center - Wifi, bluetooth, airplane, cellular data, 3G, brightness

Agreed in every way. I feel like this is something that Apple simply hasn't realized is important until recently. Much like the Notification Center, they kept looking at what was on other phones, working well, and thought it was either a fad or just something un-Apple. Nevertheless, they put NC into iOS 5 and I think they may be more open now to the idea of an SBSettings like toggle system as well.

Integrate Spotlight search into notification center - put it on top(above stocks/weather), The search should be instantly accessible from anywhere with minimal taps/swipes.

I probably just haven't been looking, but I've never seen this suggested. Great idea. Especially since Spotlight searching also uses Wikipedia and the like. Nearly instant access to search is a must these days.

Camera app needs Timer, time/date/location tagging, etc.. 720p recording option.

I'm a little confused by this one as I know the iPhone saves EXIF data. I guess I agree with the 720p option though. While the new lens and sensor are fantastic, not everyone always wants to use them to the maximum potential.

Birthday's in Calendar - Right now iOS reads your contacts and displays birthdays of your contacts in the Calendar, but I want it to show the actual age the person is turning in the brackets too... example: John Smith [35].

Minor gripes do not a feature make. Still, I hear ya lol

Ability delete photos from Photo Library

Safe to say you meant Photostream? Agreed.

Ability to view the image file information, EXIF(date of taking, size, etc)

This is possible with third-party apps, so I don't see any harm or difficulty in iOS integration.

Then again, I can see Apple not putting all of this "extra" stuff into their apps for the sake of simplicity. I think they may be perfectly content with giving us the basic idea of this kind of stuff and if we need to expand on it, use the App Store. We'll see how this pans out in the future.

Calendar - upcoming event badges on calendar(with an ability to adjust how far in advance you can see your events, 24hours, 7 days, 14 days, etc..)
I know badges are used for invitations right now, but how often do you get those?

So do you mean a "1" or some odd number to act as an indication on the Calendar icon to let you know you have such an amount of events taking place that day or week, etc.? I guess, but there must be a nicer way to do this, such as looking in the Notification Center.

iMessage - Needs an ability to share location(Map) like with WhatsApp, within the iMessage - Would be great if we could send a location and then the receiver could start routing/navigating right from the iMessage message.

Like Find My Friends?

Prevent shut down when the phone is locked.

Interesting security idea. I don't see why not.

Weather in the lockscreen, near the clock, should be optional though.

If implemented, definitely optional. This goes back to battery drain for minor flare. We do have the Notification Center now, with location-based live weather. Maybe turn this suggestion into "Make the Notification Center accessible from the lockscreen."

Delivery notification for normal SMS messages.

Is this possible without using data? I feel it's not, but I'm not sure. And if so, why have iMessage?

Snooze time configuration option for alarm, (amount of snoozes, time in between).

My favorite suggestion so far! lol

More "Pull down to refresh/do something" mechanics throughout the system.

Haha, yeah why not? It's a great little mannerism.

Private browsing switch IN the Safari, so you can switch it on/off while you're in Safari, not having to go into Settings.

Again, agreed 100%. I always thought it was so odd that the switch was in a different app. Duh?

Swiping to get rid of notification banners - swipe them left or right.

I thought this was already possible, but I just tested it on my phone and failed. Hm... Although I know you can just start dragging the Notification Center down and let go right away. It'll dismiss the bar along with it. Not exactly what you want, but it's there right now.

Still, I don't find that little bar to be obtrusive enough to warrant a gesture to dismiss it. At least it's not the old style where it was in your face, demanding your immediate attention.

GridTab view for Safari.

I don't know about a grid, but maybe some way to use tabs the same way the iPad does, but only in landscape view.

YouTube continuous playlist play.

Didn't know this was important, but I guess. What do you have to do now? Keep going back to the playlist and select the next video? Sounds annoying. I don't use YouTube much.

Maps - When you are picking a bookmark or a contact in Maps there is this text in the title taking up space "Choose a bookmark/contact to view on the map" Remove that, most people already know how to use it.

Says you. I'd bet 90% of people with an iPhone didn't even know that text was there. Besides, what are you going to use that big extra space for? One more contact listing?

Swipe from bottom up for the multitasking bar, multitasking bar should also be doubled in size IMO and audio controls should be placed above the icons.

I'm sure there are plenty more gestures coming, this included. Apple is clearly making a push for gesture-based computing as opposed to keyboard/mouse and if they can get all of us iDevice users already used to it, it'll be that much easier for us to be sold on the idea of gesture based Macs.

Desktop:

iTunes... Drag and drop(manually manage) pictures without the need to sync. I don't want to have a folder specifically for the iPhone, I want to simply grab a picture and drag it into the iPhone.

I definitely agree that picture management needs to be simplified. It's obnoxiously complicated to get right on your own and it'd be nice if Apple can do something like you suggested.

I can imagine plugging in (or WiFi connecting) your iDevice to iTunes, and seeing a list of your pictures, complete with thumbnails. It'd just be nice to manage this the same way we already manage our music and/or apps.

Wrap Up

In the end, I just don't want to get too crazy about iOS 6. Apple has been showing us over and over again that they prefer to keep the revolutionizing to new product lines and the evolution is for existing product lines. We'll see bits of great ideas scattered thoughout releases and I'm sure we'll love most of it, have issues with a few, and see some bugs and misfires along the way.

It all comes down to expectations, and I think the Apple-loyal are getting better at keeping them reasonable. It wasn't too long ago that a thread such as this would have been riddled with absurd suggestions and ideas that no company, especially Apple, would ever implement. Now, we're better understanding Apple's marketing and long-term sale. We better understand now that if Apple plans on bringing us great products for years to come, they need to concentrate on what's here and now more than what's there and later.

We'll get what we need and what Apple wants us to have, no more and no less. Even if, as is Apple's usual style, we didn't even know we needed it.

I would be ELATED if iOS 6 rolled out and, if nothing else, all we got was the ability to delete the freaking stock/weather/contacts/compass/newstand/voicememos apps.

I can't believe we're on version of 5 and we still have to keep these apps on our devices. It's my device, shouldn't I be able to decide whether I want those apps or not?

I would like a blend of notification center & lockinfo. I like the look of notification center better, it's just needs to have the same features as lockinfo.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A405 Safari/7534.48.3)

First fire all these incompetent dev who were behind iOS 5 for delivering the crap.

Now that's out of the way

1. Map is a must n better integration with os
2. Separate volume control for ringer n other alerts
3. Better notification

My biggest complaint is what these so called dev team did for past 16 months
No innovation in any new features.

I think it's time we make our lists of what we want and hope that Apple notices and takes our wishes into account.

I know that not all of you will like the suggestions below but, those are what I want. Please list your own suggestions.

New Features:

Free navigation with an ability to download maps to use them offline.
Live icons
Integrated SIP support/configuration
Native DivX/XviD/MKV support
Full Bluetooth support, sending files, contacts, syncing, etc...
Wi-Fi Direct support/Airdrop

Camera app needs Timer, time/date/location tagging, etc.. 720p recording option.

I know badges are used for invitations right now, but how often do you get those?

iMessage - Needs an ability to share location(Map) like with WhatsApp, within the iMessage - Would be great if we could send a location and then the receiver could start routing/navigating right from the iMessage message.

GridTab view for Safari.

YouTube continuous playlist play.

Maps - When you are picking a bookmark or a contact in Maps there is this text in the title taking up space "Choose a bookmark/contact to view on the map" Remove that, most people already know how to use it.

Swipe from bottom up for the multitasking bar, multitasking bar should also be doubled in size IMO and audio controls should be placed above the icons.

Desktop:

iTunes... Drag and drop(manually manage) pictures without the need to sync. I don't want to have a folder specifically for the iPhone, I want to simply grab a picture and drag it into the iPhone.

I like the Private browsing in safari idea (to hide my "stuff" I've been watching) :D
