Excellent, now we just need confirmation that it works and for someone to write an "instructions for dummies" page.

I think I know what to do... only thing is I'm stuck at work for the next 7 hours, so I can't do a thing until I get home.... boooo

BTW - people have confirmed it does work.

I think all these ebayers selling *sims are going to see a serious drop in business.

Yes it works. You also don't need to downgrade to 102 before running the unlock. You can do it directly from 112; put it in airplane mode then run the unlock from mobile terminal.

This comes with both joy and possible dissappointment....

...joy for the unlock, its great news (woo hoo :D)

But potential dissappointment as i ask myself (and anyone listening who cares)

What if this was the second method that the iPhone Dev Team had discovered but were keeping under wraps until after SDK drops.... just in case apple missed it?

Only time will tell!

PS is this platform specific eg Pc or Mac or both? or is it run using iPhone?

I know this is really selfish, but someone please post a summary of the procedure. I'm dying to know how it works.

My firewall won't let me onto the blogspot site (because I'm at work and shouldn't really be looking at this kind of thing anyway). Maybe there are others in the same boat...

Why is this news NOT headlines

why hasn't this unlock news made healines on the macrumors iPhone page??

does this mean that if you were to buy a 16gb right now (or any of the brand new 1.1.3 iPhones) that they could be unlocked as of now? or is it just for 1.1.2 phones?

People... it's easy to do if you've used terminal before, and are happy doing things via term.

It will work on both 1.1.2 and 1.1.3 OTB - but if you're running 1.1.3 you will end up running the 1.1.2 BB.

so what exactly does it involve - i haven't used terminal before - would it be way too ambitious to attempt it myself?

will this affect the general operation of the iPhone at all? or any of its applications?

hackint0sh forums is the place to go to get some guides.

There are quite a few threads running on it, so pick carefully!

For someone who hasn't followed the unlocking process from the start, it seems like it is nearly impossible to jump on the wagon now. There's so many scams and so much B.S. out there that I don't even know if the guides I am reading are correct. I guess that is just kinda the way of the internet.

Does anyone know where I can find a beginner's guide to unlocking a 1.1.3 OTB iphone? I am a good direction follower so I should be ok...I just can't find any good guides, every guide I find just assumes that the reader knows how to do things such as restart CommCenter and what iBricker does, etc. Well, I don't. I suppose if I can't find anything I will just have to give up and spend the extra money and buy an unlocked iPhone from the local Wireless store...

Dude, the unlock was just released today! Be patient and stay tuned. I suspect there will be a beginner's guide soon.

The current process involves using the terminal to apply some changes. You might want to wait until someone provides a more automated, user-friendly tool.

Indeed learn from the 1.1.3 jailbreak method that was released early and wait for the dust to settle before acting on this.
