Sorry about being off topic, but what harm can someone knowing a serial number have? I'm no hacker so I can't imagine how it could be bad, not that I don't believe y'all.

I'm happy to hear that someone is happy about their purchase. It was wise of you to ask around before deciding, and the 15" is a very good model. The 17 would be my preference, but 15 is very nice and mroe than adequate for msot people (I jsut love large screens, so that's why I'd prefer the 17.)

Congrats on your purchase! May it live long and prosper!

Some tips to keep it healthy:

Don't drop it.
Don't borrow it
Don't let someone else hold it
Don't set it on the ledge of your balcony, even for a second.
Don't forget it ont he roof of your car
Don't drink anything near it.
Don't eat anything near it
And don't let your cat run over the keys or the PB itself when its closed.

:D

How can he borrow his own laptop? Do you mean "lend"?

Pics! Mac porn!!

If it is worth more than a certain amount of money and it gets stolen and the police recover it, then an easy way of claiming it is knowing it's serial number. So it is a bit of a security risc.

i'll post when i get home...is that written on the box or on the base of the unit? i'm guessing it's on the box as the only number on the PB is a model number :)
Beyond the repeated don't post your serial number remarks, I thought I would let you know that if you want to post your prefix, it is available on the box, under the battery, and if you go to the apple menu/click about this mac/click where your OS version is listed.

What are the odds that
1) the PB will get stolen
2) the police actually manage to recover it
3) Mad Jew manages to find the police station where it is kept
4) He produces his ID to claim it, and sign off some papers
5) Real owner comes in
6) Mad Jew gets arrested?

It makes no sense.

Just post the serial number, the risk is virtually 0.

Replace PB with lady and stolen with married.
