I think OLED looks better, and I love the deep blacks. That said, as many have pointed out above me, I wouldn’t change devices just to get oled.

meh, I am extremely underwhelmed with OLED on the iphone to be honest. I can't tell the difference between an iPhone X screen and an iPhone 7+ or 8+ screen. When Apple announced OLED I got excited and thought we were getting a vibrant screen like those found on samsung and LG phones... But was dissapointed to find a screen so washed out that it looks just like an LCD screen....

felt exactly the same. compared my 8 to an X expecting to be just blown away and the displays were nearly identical. marginally better blacks on the oled, but the colors were the exact same muted p3 gamut colors. accurate sure, but give me that cold screen with a bit of a saturation bump (but not cartoonish) that my 6 had. 6 had the best screen in an iphone ever by far imo.

The difference between iPhone 8 LCD and iPhone X OLED is just too little. It's now worth the money in my opinion. iPhone 8 is the best iphone at the moment. Fair price (could be better) and very powerful. That's what I want from a phone..I don't need OLED just to watch the weather and to write a message.. :D

But anyway, enjoy your phone bro :D. It's a great phone.

lets be honest.... (and android users shhhhh because everyone that loves apple wants an iPhone) If you place an Iphone 8 right next to an X you will choose the screen on the X 100/100 times (maybe not the width or length) but the OLED is > than all the previous iPhone screens. I know this because my wife has an 8 Plus (which i love the touch ID on more than Face ID) and i have an X (which i choose because of the screen) Now if they both had OLED id go with the 8 Plus because of the touch id.

I am sitting here looking at both and have to say ... No. In most cases they are darn close.
Especially when I see a screen on the X is a cropped version of the 8+.

Want a good example? Place an X, an 8+, and a Galaxy 9 all side by side.

Let’s be honest here and not make assumptions on what others might think, especially if the discussion already contains 54 posts and multiple of them explain that OLED means little to nothing for them.

Didnt mean to assume everyone will like those types of screens but it is safe to assume oled and the like are the future and will be featured on the majority if not all the future flagship phones. Oled looks incredible when compared to the iPhone 8.

I have the iPhone X and like the OLED screen, but Apple also has the best LCD screens made. Either way you go with an iPhone, in my opinion, you are getting a top notch (no pun intended) screen.

I still have my iPhone 6s and iPhone 7 Plus as my backup iPhones, and when I turn them on to update them I am still impressed with the LCD screens they have.

To each their own!

How come OLED isn't in every device? I think it is AMAAAAZING.

the vividness, the colors, the brightness. it doesn't even look real.

When will Apple put OLED in their computers, and CAN I GET AN OLED TV PLEASE?

I'm coming from an iPhone 8 to the X, and OLED is simply amazing!

Cost i think...
The same could be said from any upgraded non-Retina to Retina display, for instance.

Apple goes slow.. Google rushes.

Gave me a headache, took it back. No OLED for me.
I’ve had my iPhone X since launch day and have been battling migraines since that time. It shouldn’t have taken me this long to figure out but the phone is a major contributing factor but it’s not like I just get headaches while I’m using the phone so I’ve had headaches nonstop for like 2.5 years now. I have an iPhone 11 now which helps immensely but I’m super bummed now because I’ve been anxiously awaiting the iPhone 12. I don’t want this iPhone 11. Literally the only reason I bought it is for the LCD display. I know we are a minority but it would be super nice if they would keep LCD in their future phones for people like us. I would pay the exact same price as the “superior” OLED screen for an iPhone 12 with LCD instead of OLED.

I went OLED and went back. Returned my X to use the 7 Plus until the X Plus comes out.

The OLED panel is really not as impressive as people say it is. Minor advantages in normal lighting. Moderate advantage when brightness is at 100% on a black screen.

The disadvantages, however, outweigh all of those minor benefits.

What? My LG OLED TV completely destroys any TV I've owned prior to it. It makes my Samsung QLED look disgusting.

Similarly for laptop use, as nice my macbook Pro is, its display versus the OLED of a Razer blade or Alienware is clearly inferior.

An OLED panel is able to easily re-produce effortlessly HDR content without any backlight issues, blooming, halo effects and due to being able to keep the blacks at a low level, allows for tremdnous specular highlight contrast and detail due to pixel level precision.

How anyone can underplay how phenomenal OLED is as a technology is hillarious.

For phones, I think its not the biggest deal in the world but for displays meant for media consumption, a good OLED screen which has sufficient brightness and good anti-glare proprties is difficult to beat.

apple aren't doing it due to cost. Its easier to add an inch to the same ancient mildly improved LCD panels we have in macbook pros than buy OLED panels. Its a genius move really. Give users an extra inch and change the aspect ratio and distract them from the fact that they're buying tech that basically hasn't been updated in a couple of years whilst the laptops in the same price category all sport higher refresh displays or OLED panels.

OLED for a computer is an awful idea... and it is not even terribly beneficial for mobile phones. Phone displays usually used intermittently, have few static UI elements, and often discarded/sold off after 1-2 years. Quite honestly, high quality LCD certainly rivals OLED. Apple XDR and high end proofing displays are LCD.
