If you don't like the 30", just send it on down to me. I can't actually run the thing but I'm sure it will look awesome sitting in the corner of my apartment.

They have a 30"er set up at my local Apple Centre and I was in there once with an iPhoto slideshow going. I'll tell you know that photos look incredible on that thing - just so huge and so clear!! I couldn't look away.

Get the 30" it's amazing.

Isnt this the wrong comparison?
2 x 20" is much cheaper compared to one 30", and the 30" has a much larger real estate (especially height) so that's an easy choice.
2 x 23" vs the 30" would be a more fair comparison. I myself prefer to work with one screen and for my applications also need as much height as I can.
In terms of real estate you pay slightly more money for the 2x 23" and get slightly more pixels for it in return. So, it's all about personal preference. But 2 x 20"? No way!

also: don't underestimate the sheer width of 2x WS 23". That's a whole different league you're playing then 2 5:4 19" screens...

I think the OP's only options were one 30" or two 20"ers. It was a company-offered upgrade from what I understand.

30" all the way.

30". No question about it. It's worth it for the vertical space.

As I normally work, I pretty much use it as 2x1280x1600 screens (web browser, mail, Proteus contact list all on left; Proteus message view, iTunes, Colloquy on the right), with some things, such as FCP taking up the whole screen.

One big monitor = many pixels together = big chance of getting one with dead pixels.

Two monitors = better odds :p

30. I was in your same boat. Had the option of getting a 2nd 24 or switching to one 30. These guys know what they're talking about. I went with the 30 and no regrets yet. Just don't sit your monitor on too a high a raise since the top extends a lot higher than one would expect.
