You know what's really fun? In Windows, there is/was an option to invert the X an Y axis on the mouse so up is down and left is right. I'd love to go in and switch it and them make the mouse graphic an actual mouse and watch my friends go nuts trying to figure out why their mouse is going psycho on them :D Sorry for the off topic post, but the inverting the mouse pointer thing just brought back the memories of my former "PC user" self, heh.

Default Folder X!!!!

Default Folder X just added the click-and-get file name functionality in the latest build. I haven't tried it, as I'm not willing to pay for it. But 35 bucks is better than 129 if you really want it.

Option clicking is nice and all for hiding applications, but it'd be nice to set it to hide inactive windows when an active window is selected as the default because I like having a single window that I am working on visible to keep my desktop clean and accessible, but having to option-click everything gets annoying.

you can also do the apple + option + left click on the active window and itll hide all other windows

In addition to posting about what the combinations do, let's tell how to learn these things in general (other than asking at MacRumors, of course).

In Help, is there a particular question new users should type to get a list of these Option- and/or Command- key shortcuts?

The thing is, I know the shortcuts so the help doesn't help me with them. I just want it to automatically do that without me having to option click all the time. I have a third party extension to do that for me in OS 9 which makes my life quite happy, but searching for the same for OS X hasn't revealed much for me. But, I am interested in Expose, it looks like it may actually give me a good reason not to worry about this issue quite so much.

Don't let the 'haxie' name fool you.. they are perfectly safe and the only time I ever heard people having actual problems with it was back in the 10.1 days. Unsanity is a great company... you can trust them :D

Also I've tried the new feature in Default Folder which does the click-and-rename feature just like you would expect it to. Definitely worth a try.
