like SBSH phone weaver on the Android

Thaaaaank you so much! Bought this after reading this and this is the BEST THING EVER! I have missed Nokia profiles ever since owning an iPhone but this is even better. A million times better.

1) it would be nice to be able to permanently delete an app from itunes on my ios device rather than having to do it from my pc

I love this idea. I hate having to delete apps from my mac when i just want it to delete off my phone and be gone forever.

There's a few things that automatic icloud syncing need to be able to allow you to tweak in more detail.

Also, i'm not sure if this is an option, but if i download an iphone app, it will show up on my ipad if i've synced my phone with the new app, and then my ipad. Really annoying because i hate the way they implemented the iphone apps running on an ipad.

There was some jailbreak app that used the iphone retina graphics when running on an ipad and it looked ok.

yup, jailbreaking definetly voided my warranty. just got my iPhone 4 replaced under warranty. The apple guy said you know your going to lose your jailbreak right? i said yes I'm ok with that. So when he swaps my phone he makes sure 5.0.1 is on it so i can jailbreak it again because he didn't want to give me one with 5.1 on it so i couldn't do it again.
Does he seem like he cares if my phone is jailbroken?

I do what you suggest, but I still don't like it. These apps are bloatware, and actually not of very high quality. If Apple is going to force us to have a weather app from them, for instance, you'd think it would have radar, satellite photo's, and forecasting charts, but the weather app doesn't.

I completely agree with this. They don't provide a weather app on iPad, so they should remove it on iPhone. I would love for the Bureau Of Meteorology in Australia to release an iOS app to replace the native weather app, and for Apple to get rid of their crappy stock app.

In Apples' defense though, the app did get better in iOS 5.

The weather and maps app's are simple and barebones the opposite of bloat ware. I don't really see what the big deal is with putting the apps in a folder. You can hide them on the last page and you'll never see them.

Wrong. All the iTunes restore does is delete the files, not erase them.

So Apple can restore some files that are jail-broken (unless you have overwritten those files multiple times).

Yes because apple is going to go out of there way to void your warranty

What if the problem with the phone is something that prevents you from restoring, such as a broken USB port?

True, it's not very likely that Apple will discover your jailbreak if you're smart about it, but it's not impossible, so saying "there's no downside" is wrong.

If it's hardware, they don't care. I told the Genius I was JB'ed when I went in for a broken button, and he didn't care. He just laughed. He still swapped it out, no problem, and luckily, at the time, they were still on 5.0.1, so I just JB'ed the new one.

I agree with the OP. The default YouTube, Stocks, Weather and Maps app have not changed AT ALL since iOS 1.

You would think that being the first phone everyone wants to have, Apple would have done something about these apps. It breaks my heart.

Weather Channel is good. What's wrong with Maps? I find it very helpful, although obviously it doesn't have turn by turn...

I am the resident iphone support guy for all of my coworkers and family, so I would guess that I have had between 10-14 iPhones at the apple store for some sort of service. Every single one has been jailbroken. I've never been denied warranty service. Apple doesn't enforce this policy.

all it shows you is a route, no word directions. i like the traffic option though.

There's a list option. It's obviously not turn-by-turn, it wasn't meant to be.

----------

I find Maps very useful in a city when trying to get walking directions to places.
