I have a MBA M1 (and a MBP) and I still want these features on the iPad because... I prefer the IPP as a device to use and interact with. Why do people feel the need to assume people have made a mistake on the device they have bought just because they would like improvements?
The MBA is a great little laptop, if that was my only device I'd be hoping for a raft of improvements - this does not mean I should have bought an IPP.
I use the IPP as my main computer and for the stuff I need it for (LiDAR, CAD) the Macbook Air would be insufficient and require thousands of £$£$ of additional hardware. But I also don't really have any problems with the UI and wish it was more like a Mac.
I get most of the gripes listed in this thread: the file system is terrible, Additional user support would be welcome, there are legacy iOS vestiges that need to be pruned and so on. But I also have not-so-fond memories of trying to make a multi-window UI work on an 11.6" Macbook Air and it being horrendous compared to just running everything full-screen.
If anything I'd like to see Apple add a tabbed multi-tasking interface so that using lots of apps was just like having loads of browser tabs open instead.
