Hey

Did you get your NextSim yet? I have been looking to buy it as well. Where did you buy it from? You think it's true about claims that NextSim exhausts battery life and is a cheap Chinese version?

I have a OOB Iphone 1.1.2 with 4.06 firmware.

Those 'claims' were made by an opposing seller on Ebay under the search "TurboSIM".

NextSIM where I purchased is http://cgi.ebay.com/NEXT-TURBO-SIM-...ryZ43312QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

the other (looks the same product) was IturboSIM at http://cgi.ebay.com/TURBOSIM-To-Unl...ryZ64355QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

and another now being - HyperSIM http://cgi.ebay.com/HyperSIM-Unlock...ryZ43312QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem who makes the anti NextSIM claims (in exactly the same words).

None of which are Bladdox Turbo SIM being http://cgi.ebay.com/TurboSIM-UNLOCK...oryZ1503QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem (with an Aussie touch) :)

The claims against NextSIM seem to be made by a group of sellers selling a "TurboSIM now officially registered as IturobSIM" to quote their sell page. Interestingly though, some sellers of IturboSIM had images showing products and they had hand written pieces of paper with the sellers name in the image. Very similar to NextSIM's ebay page.

As I don't have the NextSIM yet I cannot comment on the SIM and its use yet. With regard to "exhausting battery life" - what faster than WiFi use? The battery life on this phone is abysmal anyway. My gut reaction is any picky back SIM solution is being powered indirectly by the battery SO all of them will contribute to shorter battery life.

If the product is crap I will let everyone know and take it as a $100 USD+ lesson in life.

Anyone here used it?

(Note to admin - the ebay pages were placed NOT to sell products but to provide comparisons for the discussion)

Further info edit - ebay is now full of NEXT sim sellers. Some doing bulk sales. I have not received mine as yet  so I cannot comment on its use and suitability, quality, etc. Further posts to come.

Edit2 - Well Eba is now more full (crap english I know) of Nextsim and hyperSIM whilst the Bladdox originals are down to a few sellers. Personally, from images only, the HyperSIM looks a quality item compared to the NextSIM. However, in the end, its not what it 'looks' like, its how it operates. Anyway, even if I have to buy a few, mt Iphone cost is well below $1000 euro (which I believe is the Euro price for an 'unlocked' supplied by a carrier Iphone).

I have just found that the Ebay seller that I purchased the NextSIM from has NextSIMII which even in his own words "does not exhaust battery life".

Ebay ad is here - http://cgi.ebay.com/NEXT-TURBO-SIM-...ryZ43312QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem.

To put it bluntly - I'm disappointed about not being informed about the new SIM by the seller. Then again, with the proliferation of NextSIM sellers on Ebay now maybe the seller is trying to be 'the better product' than his competitors.

Could one of the more technically minded Iphone users do a 'evaluation' of the various piggyback SIM solutions (now TurboSIM, NextSIM V1 & V2, StealthSIM, HyperSIM and other dual SIM solutions). I for one would have paid a nominal fee for the information.

Many ebay sellers write or print their user IDs on a piece of paper, and take picture of product with their user id, to prevent image theft.

Bladdox Turbo SIM is sold out at Bladdox. I have a feeling that they do not actually make it, but to buy an existing product from Asia and relabelling it.

Nextsim is only for USA phones, guess it's pre-programmed.

Funny, these people are suppose to be located in the US?
Turbo Sim seller "amergoods": "Our iTurbosim is in highQuality"
Next sim seller "lego_fans": "No shipping to Afrika"

HyperSim seems to be fake. That auction you posted was removed by ebay. No search result for it on ebay.

Stealthsim seems to be fake or sold out.

Stealthsim is not fake

I have friends who unlocked with Stealthsim guys. Just go here http://www.iphonestealth.ca/product_iphonestealth.htm
DO NOT BUY FROM EBAY, if the item is fake, or doesnt work, u can always file a chargeback and get your money back with your credit card company or paypal.

If you pay with paypal, remember to use funds from a credit card rather than checking account, so that you can file a chargeback.

Identify TurboSIM HyperCard HyperSIM iTurboSIM etc

Hi! Guys,

Sellers seem to re-naming Dual SIMs as every variation of Turbo, Hyper, and PSS etc. Anything... just so they can 'feed' of the real thing.

Here are the three basic designs:-

Dual SIM
Basically, any thing that requires you to cut the heck out of your SIM or SIMs is a US$3-$10 Dual SIM. A crapy solution. They all seem to be the MagicSIM Dual SIM renamed -- see www.MagicSIM.com
Sold as - just about any name you can think of

HyperCard (aka Hyper-Card SIM) - Stealth SIM - KingSIM
These are similar to the original TurboSIM from Bladox s.r.o. except they are all pre-programmed. They differ from each other by the colour (Stealth is black - the other two golden brown). And the position of the chip (eeprom) differs. On some it is in the middle on others on the edge. As I said, these are all pre-programmed, and the users SIM can be changed at will.

The better one (I think) is the HyperCard as it is the only one that has an adhesive pre-applied to keep the users SIM flat against it. I only wish that they (Hyper-Card) had used the chip on the edge positioning (instead of in the middle) as it would have made SIM cutting much easier.

Again these seem to be re-named as just about anything the seller thinks would sell better.

TurboSIM (aka Turbo SIM)
The original from Bladox s.r.o. - These names are trademarks of Bladox s.r.o and any sellers using these names and/or variations are infringing on Bladox trademarks. Very thin, black, with a BIG eeprom on the top right corner.
Needs to be prgrammed before use. Need to be 'Set' with the SIMs and the iPhone in which it is to be used. The user can not easily change SIMs (the TurboSIM would need to be erased and re-programmed and then SetUp agian with the users SIM and iPhone).

Please Note: I am a re-seller of genuine TurboSIMs and HyperCard SIMs.
But I have no stock at the moment, so I am not posting to try and promote my sales or anything like that.

I am setting up a web page where I will be displaying pictures of all the different types of SIM solutions, so users can see and compare before they buy from whoever... However, I do not want to post the address before I check with the admin of this forum to see if that would be OK to do.

Whoever is administrating this forum please let me know if posting the address would be OK

Thanks,

A3 Australia

Thanks A3, a very interesting and, with my limited knowledge of these things, unbiased view of what they all do. Cheers:D

So is there anywhere to purchase the Turbo Sim or Stealthsim options right now. I see some listings on Ebay and they seem legit. But I do not want to purchase from them because another user said not to. But the actual Turbosim and Stealthsim sites do not have any available, and I am dying to get my phone in use.

I plan on ordering one as soon as they have new stock in

if anyone's used/uses stealthsim let us know how it goes :)

Sucess - well eventually with NextSIM version 1 & 2

Hello all,

Well after the last week I thought I should write up my experience with NextSIM.

I ordered a NextSIM from Ebay (US) to 'unlock' my OOB 1.1.2. The NextSIM was delivered fast, well packaged, but with NO instructions. Yet, Im a university student this should be a piece of cake ;)

We cut our current SIM as required to fit the next sim 'processor' within the confines of the Iphone SIM tray. Now, due to the fact we had concerns RE the suitability (and the sellers promise to take back a failed unlocked SIM) and also the eventual thickness of carrier SIM and piggy back SIM, we didn't double side adhesive tape the NextSIM to the carrier's SIM .

THIS WAS A BIG, BIG (REPEAT AFTER ME), BIG MISTAKE!

Initially, we inserted two Australian carriers modified SIMs. What was blatantly obvious was how tight the inserted SIMs felt (proof of Apples fine engineering). If it was a girl in bed you'd be stoked BUT when it's inserting SIMs into your 'love of your life' Apple Iphone - Uggghhhh :( . Yet, they seemed to go in and out OK. We had to use a knife blade to remove the SIM tray enough to get grip of both tray, carrier SIM and NextSIM but it when in and out3 - 4 times for testing various carrier SIMs.

Now, the NextSIM V.1 Australian carrier result:

1. Telstra pre-paid 2G SIM - Unlocked.
2. Optus 3G SIM but 2G contract - FAILED.
3. My account SIM 3G SIM- FAILED

Pleased be assured the seller made it know that "3G carriers such as '3' wouldn't work". It is however - Any 3G SIM regardless of 'plan contract' etc. Could some SIM specialist let us know of the SIM card differences? (Initial looks at SIMS suggest 'grounding' or '# of SIM contacts'????) As such, I returned the Telstra pre-paid and cursed my luck. Little was I know it was going to get much much worse.

I applied to my carrier for a 2G specific SIM. One week later it finally arrived (note - I can get a NextSIM from Hong Kong in 3 days BUT a carrier SIM from Sydney a week). It arrived, modified it to suit the NextSIM. Went to swap Telstra SIM out to put in my carrier SIM? WTF - I cannot get out the SIM tray. Barely moved out 1 mm, maybe 1.5 when we used the authorised Apple SIM removal tool - the paperclip.

I could not grab the tray to pull with our fingers as there was too little of the tray exposed to grab onto. I eventually had to use a small pair of pliers to gain some purchase on the tray. Yet, the tray seemed to be stuck.

Finally, after using a significant amount of force (and a massive amount of fear - no Apple warranty for me) the tray came out with the original SIM but not the NextSIM. The NextSIM was stuck in the Iphone sim slot. After an hour of effort - I was able to remove the NextSIM from the Iphone internals using fine tools and some tweezers. Then, I noticed two things, half of the top edge of the NextSIM was crumpled and the small IC chip was gone from the NextSIM. A search of the floor found the NextSIM IC chip.

What I have worked out is that the NextSIM curled up so that when we tried to remove the SIM tray it became caught on the inside edge of the Iphone's internal sim tray holder. At that point, the NextSIM was jammed in and the IC chip was holding the main SIM card from being able to be removed. Eventually, the IC chip came off letting the original SIM card and tray to come out whilst the NextSIM stayed in the phone. I guess that this proves how 'strong' this circuit board actually is .

So to my point – ensure you double side tape the NextSIM to your original sim.

Anyway, to cut the story short, I have acquired a NextSIM Version 2 which supports 3G SIM cards. Got a new carrier SIM card from my ‘local’ shop. Recut the carrier SIM, taped the edges, applied the NextSIM2 to my SIM. Pressed down, inserted (much easier this one), and ‘bingo’. The build quality (thickness) is much better. I can actually get the SIm tray out with the authorised paper clip and finger with version 2.

As a quick summary, I’ll edit more later:

1. NextSIM V.1 (obvious by top central chip) does NOT work with 3G sims. But worked. Thicker circuit board is difficult to insert and , maybe, impossible to remove 
2. NextSIM V.2 (chip in the ‘slanted corner of your SIM), worked with 3G SIM, much thinner better construction, and worked with 3G SIM.

However, there are limitations. Considering you have to ‘tape’ your piggy back SIM to your carrier SIM, swapping the NextSIM to ‘other’ SIMs? Don’t think so. This is one advantage a software unlock has over this solution.

If you have a OOB 1.1.2 phone and want it carrier unlocked – my experience suggest this product ( Version 2) will work with 2G & 3G carrier SIMs.

A good day to all.

Installing HyperCard - piece of cake, well mostly...

Just to add to the thread here I thought I would share my experience installing HyperCard (I believe otherwise known as TurboSim2), which is the dual card holder.

Package with the card, card sleeve (which holds your cut SIM in the card), a stencil to cut your SIM and a CD. The instructions on the CD were basic. I didn't feel 100% comfortable doing it on those alone but I found the following video which added the extra perspective to make sure I was doing it right:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vwkm...orum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?p=7093994

In the video, the HyperCard gets installed about halfway through.

Overall, I would say it was pretty easy once you get past the fear of cutting your SIM card (including cutting through part of the 'gold chip' part of the card).

Only hiccup I encountered was I cut just outside the black lines of the stencil which meant the card was to big to fit into the card holder. I had to trim the card to make it fit. After that I had the card in the holder, slid on the metal sleeve and popped it in the iphone. It was a little tight but slid in quit easily.

10 seconds later my phone was active on my network! (Rogers)

I can't speak to battery life etc. at this point but from an installation process it was pretty straight-forward. Again the only scary part was the stencil requires you to actually cut off pieces of the gold 'chip' on your SIM which seems counter-intuitive but it works...

FYI - bought the HyperCard on eBay from harrybh.

Hello all,

Well after the last week I thought I should write up my experience with NextSIM.

Our HyperSIM for iPhone solution comes with pre-applied 3M adhesive so you do not have this type of problem.

You can still switch SIMs by separating the 'piggy-back' SIM from your carriers SIM with the edge of your finger nail.

It does 'look' like your first 'NextSIM' by having the chip in the center top position, but has none of its problems.

Can you give us a link to a picture of your first 'NextSIM' ?
And maybe the second one as well - the NextSIM 2 ?

Thanks

A3 Australia

Not the same seller as mine - item 'looks' identical including 'logo' on piggy back SIM.

Cool. Hope it's real, however I would be cautious.

Before selling this, that store only sold things in the much lower price range.

But currently the seller has NO OTHER ITEMS, but
14 auctions
99 items available for each auction
About $75 each with shipping

All auctions ending within next 10 days.
Note shipping is listed as 5-10 days.

Well I guess the longest auction is 10 days, but I am a bit suspicious. Why would a store stop selling other items all of a sudden? Potentially $78,000 revenue if everything is sold.

Consultant,

I am not recommending the seller. A3 asked for 'images' which I have supplied access to.
