Yeah last night I asked chat GPT about a character in dune. What does Duncan look like?

It drew a picture that didn’t look like anyone in the movie so I went to google instead, and it just showed me a photo.

Why can’t chat gpt just show a photo? Why does it draw artistic **** instead?

Is it copyright? If so, why can google show the photo but not chat gpt?
Google is showing a link to an image hosted somewhere on the Web...if there is copyright infringement, it's not Google's "fault," since they are in essence displaying material that is hosted wherever it's hosted at...those posting that material are responsible.

ChatGPT is actually generating images from scratch (well from it's training and programming). If ChatGPT were replicating an image that was copyrighted, then they would get in trouble...because the material they display through their image generator is created by them and hosted on their servers. It would also out the fact that they've trained on copyrighted images and material (which they have...but now have program the output to not show). In it's current state, ChatGPT is not a web browser like Google. It may do web searches in order to gather more information, but it is parsing out that information and generating something unique to the programming and training of the coding behind it.

Further, prompts need to be very specific. Dune is also a book and an LLM might be generating a character based on descriptions in a written form, which are up for interpretation...just how different people read the same book and get different impressions regarding the look of different characters.

Did not face any issues in the last 24 hours. Hopefully everything is fixed quickly.
