Well I ordered my first mac today, the 27 quad core i5 from apple on the phone, just had a few questions though. Firstly I used my sisters student discount and was planning on just using her student id but the guy asked for my 'university email address' which of course doesn't exist because it's my sister isn't home at the moment. I told him that I don't have it with me at the moment and he said I can send him the email when I find it to verify I am a student. Although the order for my iMac seems to have gone through so I don't know if I should just leave it or find out my sisters email to give him? Second question is what does this mean: EMEA CC- HE CONTRACT UPLIFT IMAC-INT

Cheers for your time guys.

If the order is being processed, then the email doesn't seem to be very important. I wouldn't give it unless you are asked to give it. The rep wouldn't have let you order it if the email was crucial

Doing it online would have been wiser, no form of verification required at all.

Ordered mine last night :)

Yeah, that's some bull that they asked for you university email. That's just dumb. I ordered my MBP through the online student store. Just a couple of clicks later and my order was made.

Cheers hellhammer that makes me feel better lol. And I dunno if you two are from America but in the uk you need to be connected to your uni's campus to use the edu store :( that's why I phoned them up.

Because shes not very computer friendly so I didnt want the chance of her screwing my order up haha. Anyway it's been dispatched so I'm waiting for it right now :D

If he provided you an email so you can email him your sister's ac.uk email then I would tell him.
The EMEA CC- HE CONTRACT UPLIFT IMAC-INT is basically Apple Care. It will extend the telephone support from 1 year to 3 years for only £40-45 and includes 3 year hardware repair warranty. Whereas the standard student warranty is 1 year phone support and 3 years hardware repair warranty.

Send him the email. Orders to the educational store made over the phone will just hang in the system if they have asked for ID proof.

There are a 3 options for student discount. 1 of which gives you access straight to the discount and the other 2 you need to be at college/uni

I use my sisters Ed. discount all the time to order & I've never been asked for any school email. What I do get about a day later is a confirmation email telling me when the product was shipped and how long they expect it to be in my hands. Enjoy your :apple:

Well it's like still like an hour away and ups are claiming 'adverse weather conditions' even though all the snow is gone down here in the south east. So hope it comes tomorrow seeing as I took a day off college to wait for it :/

Hope you get it soon. I undersand the excitement. I work at UPS and there have been delays all over, it sucks because no matter where the bad weather is it affects all USP centers.

Yeah, I had a 27" ACD due for delivery back on the 1st December, didn't arrive until yesterday, and that was after chasing UPS several times. Driver almost didn't bother attempting to come to my house either, as he "thought" my road would be impassable, when it wasn't.

Well gratz on finally getting your ACD! iMac is out for delivery now, so should get here today!

I found the only way I could access the Apple Education Store is by googling "Apple Education" and clicking the google ads link (store.apple.com/edu-uk) until it takes me right in.

Usually it takes me to the normal page (www.apple.com/uk/education/) which eventually requires you to log on from a campus. However around 4/5th try I get directed to (http://store.apple.com/uk-edu?afid=p219|GOUK&cid=OAS-UK-KWG-UK_Edu-UK) which gives me direct access to order.

Seems to be a loophole, not sure if this works for the US store.

Anyway, enjoy your iMac mate. I got one around a month ago and havent looked back since!

That's not the HE education store. Prices are less than normal, but not as much discount as HE. A few examples:

iMac Base: £938.83 becomes £878.90 (HE)
Mac Pro Base: £1838.88 becomes £1679.098 (HE)

Ahh right, I did wonder why my iMac worked out cheaper when i bought in store. Now I'm even more glad I was too impatient to order online :p

Where abouts in the South East are you? :)
