Organizing your iPad homescreen vs iPhone homescreen

Just curious how everyone manages it’s iPad homescreen vs it’s iPhone homescreen. I have some kind of obsession to try to get them in sync as much as possible, but never truly satisfied with the setup for some kind of reason. Was wondering how other people are choosing to organize their homescreens. Attached my latest homescreens.

Don’t care about organising much more than literally the first page. I use spotlight for everything anyway.

Since I use my iPad and iPhone for completely different things, the only apps I would have are the stock ones that would be the same. I push everything to the second page because I like a clean springboard and either use spotlight or just swipe over for what I need.

I organise my Home Screen, based on the most used Apps as per Battery setting’s over the last 10 days. iPhone is pretty constant, but the iPad changes, so it’s a little less organised.

OP - I’m with you with my apps screen placement similar on both iPhone and iPad. Actually, just cleaned both of them up for the new year and got rid of a lot of apps that I don’t use.

I have the folders with the same apps on both devices to easily find them. However, I do place more device specific apps more user friendly. On the iPad I use Notability app frequently so it’s bottom right.

Also, I pretty much always use my iPhone in potrait mode while my iPad in landscape so that gives a different look.

I organize it much differently on iPad vs iPhone. I never really liked having icons all over the place on the big iPad screen and I like taking advantage of the dock.

Me too. On the phone I care about quick access from the first page. On the iPad I'm more concerned about what I can multitask from with the dock.

I throw most apps into folders to have less clutter on my home screen. Just a few folders too since the search on Apple devices is so convenient to open apps that I never go into these folders anymore.

I have more folders on my iPhone because I have more apps. I make more use of the dock on my iPads because I can fit more apps in there and I have different apps in the dock. On my iPhone I have calling and messaging apps in the dock and iTunes. I don’t have these on my iPad dock.

I use 2 iPhones & 2 iPads. Keep the same apps on all.

On both the iPhone and iPads, I keep Apple’s apps on the 1st 2 screens.
Then my most used apps on the 2nd and 3rd screens.
On later screens, everything else is kept in folders.

Thanks this is nice all these different views. Keep them coming. I use the first page for the apps I use most. Both on iPad and iPhone, then on the second page I only have folders for different categories (watching, reading, gaming etc.).

I also keep a black home screen, its more to save battery life on my XS with OLED and to focus, I do have a wallpaper for the Lock Screen though. I love seeing other people's home screens to get new ideas for sorting Apps, Looking forward to seeing what Apple has in store for us in iOS 13 with the rumours of a redesigned home screen.

Side note, I wish Apple would come out with a Calculator app for the iPad...

Interesting point regarding the battery - however since the screen is covered with other items and we tend to not stare at the home screen very long I wonder if its benefits can even be measured.

You’re probably right - the battery savings is minuscule if anything. But I have the black leather case on my phone and like the clean look of the black background. So that’s my main reason.

Apple Insider did a whole youtube video last year on using black wallpaper and they found it can save a lot of battery life.

Over a period of 3 hours they found when using a black wallpaper the battery dropped from 100% to 77%, then they tested with the default wallpaper which they found it dropped from 100% to 61%. Most people are not just sitting on your home screen looking at there icons, but if it can help with 5-10% on a single charge I will happy give up my home screen to a black wallpaper.

I feel like Apple will never put their weather or calculator apps on the iPad, although I’m sure many people actually do check the weather or make calculations with their iPads.

I try and set mine so as similar as possible but due to the amount of apps on the bottom of the iPad it looks a little different. Most sport apps on my iPhone is on my iPad.

I don’t get that either. I tried to open weather when I first got it and I was like huh???? Where is it. I would swap map for weather on the iPad.
