Hi,

i have read many things about a bug in Lion, that you have some problems after sleep with the ATI Cards.

My ORIGINAL 5770 drops in performance after sleep (Cinebench from 31fps to 16fps). If i make a restart every things is just fine.

I have done all things possible. Do a clean (only System and Cinebench) install, delete PRAM, SMC, repair permissions ... my problems is always the same like before.

A friend of me has got the same configuration and he doesn´t have these problems :(

I have take a look to the ML Preview and of course there is the same problem. In some hackintosh Forums there are a workaround to change the ModelID but this is not an option with my original Mac Pro.

Any hints for me?

this also affects the 5870, its been a lion bug since 10.7

one of the main reasons i stopped playing games on osx steam and when to bootcamp instead

It is not only in Gaming, it is also at Aperture. The Problem is also in ML for the Mac Pro 3,1 (not for the newest iMacs) :(

So the sleep is not useful for me.

I feel confirmed having stayed with Snow Leopard on my 1,1 - no problems with my 6870 there.

You could either switch to a PC 6870 as well or make your boot disk a SSD, so the restart does not take long and your problem is mitigated.

does anyone know if mp4,1and mp5,1 are affected by this bug?

could be why they excluded the mp3,1 from the ati5xxx support list

which is a bummer

Which kext i can use from SL? I think till 10.6.4 there are drivers for the 5770?

Can anyone send me the next? I think i will need three pieces. I have only found the kext from 10.6.2 (with no 5770 kext).

Many thanks

It is really creepy from Apple. That won´t be a hardware issue, so if they WANT they can fix it also for Mac Pro 3,1. But they DON´T WANT! I am Appleuser since over 15 years but at this time i think i will change from my whole Applepark at home (Mac Pro, AppleTV, 2 iPhones, 3 iPods, MBAir) to PC and Android :(

Please Mr. Cook feel free to help me :)

It is a bit shocking Apple has a document bug in the Online Store.

http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC742ZM/A?fnode=MTY1NDA5OQ#compatibility

But if look in Support...

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2848

For most of these systems people are complaining about, it is an unsupported configuration. Hence, it is not surprising that the function is not defect free.

It would be nice if someone with a 2009 or 2010 mac pro could chime in and tell us if they have graphics after sleep problem. If they don't then its safe to say all mp3,1 owners with 5xxx ati cards are SOL

But in SL the card works without any issues :( Its a problem in Lion. Can anyone send me the kext from SL for this card (i think i will need 3 kext)?

Same Issues with these kext from SL:

ATI5000Controller.kext
ATIFramebuffer.kext
ATISupport.kext

I give up and sell the card at ebay and buy me a 4870 :(

I think there is the Problem for me. I have done a clean Install with Lion. I have heard many times, that my Problem has not everybody ...

Its so AARGH !

I have installed 10.6.8 on another disc in my Mac and with SL i haven´t got this issue.

In german it says " For now, i am finished with my latin" :)

I get 30.71 FPS on my 3.1's 5770 in Lion 10.7.4 after waking from sleep. I was worried and had to test this.

Does this problem affect a be Mac pro 12 core 3.06 running lion with an ATI 5870? I just ordered one.

Yeah, that solves the Problem ... but it is very poor for Apple to do such things to Mac Pro Users :( The iMac gets an Update, but the 3,1 is too old ... :(

A little Update.

With ML is the same :(

I will sell my 5770 and will buy me a GTX 5XX ... i am pis*** off by Apple :(

Hi,

my issue isn't solved :(

But i have another strange thing. I have two cards in System Profiler ... (i have put a Photo as an attachment)

Can this be my "problem"? How can i fix this?
